Thanks for the replies.
My logic was that if ForSaleByOwner.com (4 words) could be turned into a multi million dollar site, then the substitution of 'Sale' to 'Rent' has potential, and the addition of 'The' sounds more natural in the phrase.
I've fired out a few emails to endusers, maybe this domain is worth listing on eBay.
Development!!! - A word of caution to anybody thinking about building a Real Estate Website.
We invested a lot of time, effort and money in
http://Apartamentos.com.ve/ A real estate listing site for both Agents and Private Sellers in Venezuela.
We have plenty of traffic and have tried all sorts of marketing efforts, including free listings, but it seems the Realtor Cartel/Mafia have protected their monoply from being undermined by M.S.L. listing sites. Here in Venezuela, it appears that the leading realtors, have done a deal, only to work with one multi listing site, probably so they have control over their biggest threat - more MSL sites.
This was always my suspicion, I was in disagreement with my partner from the start over this project, as in my opinion the birth of the internet was the start of a nightmare for the existing Real Estate framework.
The ability for MSL listing sites to open for business without the overheads of High Street offices and local newspaper - full page colour listing photos, plus the ease for private buyers and sellers to cut out the middleman, was a real threat to a centuries old tradition of a protected 'Old Boys Network' club/cartel riddled with 'Set Squares and Compasses'.
Do any of you have direct experience with real estate site development? If so, what has been your experience in your country?
