Hello all, please forgive my naivety in the domain brokerage arena here as this will be my first time looking into utilizing this service within NamePros.
Criteria:
Domain: RealEstateBrooklynNy.com (on general Marketplace - no specific broker)
Age: Orig 2007 (Drop/Re-regstrd late 2013)
Current Estibot Appraisal: $2,300
Other Extensions: .NET Selling for $28,000 on Godaddy & Domize / .org $1,000 on NameCheap
Registrar: Godaddy
Google Search Volume: Shares in over 7k Exact Match Local via 3 KW Combos (see below)
Google CPC: $2.18 (Highest Among those same KW Combinations)
I have a few domains (GEO related) that have fairly recently (couple of months, etc) been dropped and then re-registered and these are good domains with value and I'm looking to sell them in the offline world but would definitely benefit from those with more experience and connections.
For this reason I am offering a whopping 50% commission to make this a 50/50 split on this, - the 1st of a few domain thread offerings -, domain in the RE niche, with Travel being the likely next domain/ thread if interest.
My own understanding & experience is that there are many different ways to value a domain, with age and PR being just a couple of those qualifiers, and so a dropped domain doesn't dis-qualify a domain from being valuable, but rather looks towards other qualifiers - and also, ultimately, actual value will be in the eye of the beholder - and offline prospects don't seem to be too concerned (if even at all) with such things that us domainers do, but rather are more looking for a domain which "fits" them.
An extreme example of this would be FB.com, if this type of domain dropped (yeah, like that would happen) and lost both age & PR qualities, it simply wouldn't fall by the wayside but rather would be immediately scooped up.
As far as age and PR goes it would be starting over from 0 right, but would not be deemed useless because of it's other "intrinsic" value.
Now, that is of course an example of hiperbole but should illustrate the point (obviously fb.com is a LL.com w/ lots of traffic, but I digress) but you all know better on this than myself, and so this is not news to you.
My own experience is that domains in such fields as real estate, mortgage, Legal, dental. etc are extremely valuable to the offline owners who work in those niches, and GEO domains seem to rule for them in their respective areas.
This is the 3rd Highest Apprsd' Domain for All KW combinations 4 Real Estate in Brooklyn.
I think we all can agree that appraisals are good & very useful, but for select offline businesses, such domains can garner even more.
NYC is the largest city in the United States with a population of 8.3 Million and consists of 5 boroughs with Brooklyn being the largest (people-wise) with a population of about 2.6 MILLION and a Median value of owner-occupied housing units (as of 2012) at well over a half a million - $563,600 - there is simply no denying that a "Good" Brooklyn area Real Estate domain is indeed a valuable asset.
Barbara Corcoran (MSNBC Contributor & Founder of The Corcoran Group) was among the first big real estate brokers in NYC to realize the importance of the online world and the key role a good domain plays in being successful in the real estate market, it really took the NY real estate market by storm and propelled her company into becoming the premiere brokerage in NYC
Home to the famous Brooklyn Bridge (the longest suspension bridge in the world upon it's completion) Brooklyn, NY is a large diverse place, and there are a few wealthy sections of this gentrified city, such as Park Slope, Cobble Hill, and Dumbo, as well as some solidly middle-class enclaves in deep Brooklyn such as Bay Ridge and Mill Basin, so the demand for a quality Real Estate domain for this region clearly exists (and this is one of the better ones)
BTW, with regards to the population of Brooklyn, just to put things into perspective, Los Angeles, CA is a huge city and has a population of just over 3.5 Million, so as you can see, Brooklyn, Ny is indeed quite a largely populated city.
I believe this is a Great deal for a broker and, as the #1 TLD for this KW, I also think shouldn't be difficult to move with the appropriate connections that a good re domain broker would possess - and fetching a few grand for this GEO RE .COM domain in the largest borough of New York City, one of the most well known areas of the U.S. , should be "quite" doable.
In closing, since that long relied upon free traffic source type-in traffic, commonly used as a selling tool, is a dying breed and is now mostly considered as an over-all contributing factor to the value of a domain - but can no longer be considered as a reliable non-ranking traffic source - variables of KWs are more & more becoming main stays since google ranks strongly on the Keyword profile/make up of a domain/page(s)
This domain attracts well over 10,000 (more like 20k, actually) exact match searches w/ basic SEO via a few different combinations of real estate keywords for this area as a simple, small 5-7 pg site that a agent/broker could easily have set up - 5,400 alone of which would come from the keyword Brooklyn Real Estate, the main content of this domain in a reversed position.
(in fact, we could assist them in this if they needed....and for under $500 )
Please let me know if there is any interest at all in brokering RealEstateBrooklynNy.com here on NPs (again, at 50% commission..... and you're free to try to get as much as you're able) and if this goes well I will be looking to do a few other similar type domain brokering arrangements here.
Thank You
P.S.
As a general question over-all, is there any interest in working with .CA & .COs here, I also have a couple in the travel & vacation niches with Appraisals in the 4 and 5 Thousand USD range, and can work out similar agreements as well, please let me know if interested. TKS -
