I remembered what you said. It's just that people don't find or visit websites simply because they've been built.

Did you ask your technical partner how people will find the sites? There won't be any type-in traffic, and it'll be difficult for them to rank on Google without good content and quality backlinks.

I'm not sure who you're working with, but if you're having to pay for the technical services then I would be a bit cautious. I suspect there are a lot of "developers" who have no problem taking money to throw up cookie cutter websites. But they should have some kind of strategy for actually driving traffic to the pages.

I don't pay any technical people upfront Joe, so no real need to be cautious. This is where my background and practical business experience comes into play. Note that I said, if even "one" sale a year resulted, the domain and annual renewal fee would be justified. With the "average" existing home price in the US being $295,300 and the "average" realtors commission being 5%, a commission of $14,765 will result. This is if the realtor represents both the buyer and the seller, however if the realtor only represents one or the other their fee would be $7,382.50.

Joe....you really do bring out the best in me....after reading your post I registered Monetizing.realty. I'm sure you have no idea why, but I'll give you a hint by saying, it's NOT for sale:xf.wink:

    Go .Realty

That's just the thing. The pages need traffic to generate leads, which may convert into a sale. Where will the traffic come from?

He could redirect a small portion of the traffic from his virtual whiskey tasting business. Massive traffic instantly.

It's not too hard to learn some of this stuff, Rich, if you take the time. Relying on others for some of the more basic technical jobs can really handcuff you in these situations.

You're being told you're going to get traffic, but you don't know why or how.

All the same, I wish you the best of luck.

It's very doubtful dot-realty domains will be successful. In addition to above the reasons are:

    Far too high priced renewals.
The word "realty" is basically a second tier word and not as popular as "Realtor" or Real Estate.
Real estate agents are very cheap and hate spending money
New agents can get a free webpage on their firms website so do not need their own domain
Real estate agents are far from being technical or in to websites, traffic, etc
Realtor and Realty is not used much internationally, for example in the UK the term is Estate Agent
High pressure to sell the first year because of the costly renewals

Joe, what makes you think I need to know "some of this stuff":xf.rolleyes: I suggest you check out Acsel.org, a medical billing company I founded in 1978 that required a 100K computer (at the time) to accomplish the billing for the many doctors and clinics we worked for. I knew absolutely nothing about the computer or the software that made it work. I trusted my technical partner for all that "stuff". That was 42 years ago Joe, and don't tell me things are different now:xf.confused:

It doesn't sound to me like you trust anyone Joe....that's probably why you're a lone wolf domainer. While you were agonizing over my influence on new members I registered another ten .Realty GEO domains for many of the retirement communities in Florida that have over 5,000 homes.

Just one more thing Joe....i now own 831 .realty domains and 45 xxxxrealty.com domains. And if you have been paying attention, you may just learn a little something about how an entrepreneur becomes successful.

I make my own luck Joe, but thanks for your sincere:xf.wink: wishes.

    Go .Realty

David....you've been around this business for a while. but you've obviously been tainted by antiquated thinking.

As for the "high priced renewals"? Do you know they're set in stone? Did you ever think they may be bought down similar to the way interest rates can be bought down? Have you spoken to management about this?

As for the word "realty". Are you aware that 30% of ALL real estate companies in America actually have the word realty in their names, and it's usually at the end of the name like DavidRealty.com? If you don't believe me check it out for yourself.

Sure agents can get a free web page on their firms website, but I'm creating neighborhood and community GEO domains for them to reference. I happen to live in a neighborhood of several thousand homes known as "Broad Bay" thus I own BroadBayRealty.com and BroadBay.realty. Note (3) fewer characters in .realty than .com. Cool:xf.cool:, and it says the exact same thing.

Finally, i can't be sensitive to the fact "Realty" isn't used much internationally. I happen to live in America where; "realty is a widely used keyword" according to Go Daddy, and NOT a second tier word as you've been falsely led to believe.

    Go .Realty

I've never heard of an entrepreneur who didn't want to at least have a basic understanding of every aspect of their business.

Success comes in the selling, Rich.

Rob...there's just a few days left for the .99 cent .realty promotion, and I'd like to provide you and others a recap and an update of the progress.

First, since your post there have been an additional 13,000 registrations of which about 700 have been mine. Just when I think most good names are taken I seem to discover another "niche" area where I add to my portfolio. Just as a point of information, there are over 10,000 neighborhood/communities in the US alone with a minimum population of 3,000 people, and over 1,000 households. I've registered a few hundred, but there are thousands left.

Keep in mind that most everything involving residential real estate is "local", thus of the 2 Million agents, most specialize in one or maybe two neighborhoods/communities.

Moving on...because I've been consumed with registering .realty names over the last 60 days I've learned a lot about real estate business names in general. For instance over 30% real estate business names have the word "realty" as the last word in their two to three word names. For instance, BigAppleRealty.com (it's for sale at Sedo for $45,000), ExitRealty.com (one of the largest realtors in America), WaterfrontRealty.com and the list goes on.

Another point I want to make is that most good .realty domains have a realty.com equivalent, and btw that's a good thing. How so? From a sales point of view, the owner of the .com may very well want the .realty for any number of reasons, especially if it's pretty cheap compared to the .com equivalent. On a more technical point of view, the fact that "realty' is considered a keyword, combined with other keywords .realty should draw a fair amount of traffic/eyeballs.

I'm taking the advice of the CEO of .realty and Rob Monster of Epik and keeping my price below a thousand dollars. Currently I have two prices, $875 for what I consider my "Premium" domains and $375 for what I consider my "Standard" domains and each domain is displayed on an Epik lander.

With regards to the renewal fee, yes the annual fee of $299 is pretty steep but when you consider commissions "averaging" $14,000 on a single sale, that's not much all things considered. And if it becomes too big of a stumbling block, I'm considering negotiating some sort of "buy down" with proceeds from the initial sale, but no guarantees.

Finally, this is where the rubber meets the road....."Outbound Marketing" This fortunately is in my wheelhouse, and I can't wait to get it started in the next 30 days or by January 1st at the very latest.

Good Luck Everyone and Gobble! Gobble!

    Go .Realty

    Just a heads up...

The Epik $0.99 .Realty promo deal ends tonight at midnight PST and the price jumps to $299.00 - Ouch!

That's a little over 10 hours from now.

Without reading through the entire thread, has anyone actually sold any .realty domains yet?

Thanks Brad.....i believe i bought my last .realty domain a few hours ago, #868 - Xenith.Realty, and to accompany it I bought XenithRealty.com, #45 xxxxxRealty.com domain.

My idea for Xenith Realty was a result of Xenith Bank who was bought by Union Bank out of Richmond Va. three years ago. Obviously Xenith is a misspelling of Zenith, but when you see the logo's used for it:xf.cool:, you might understand why I own it.

Another interesting story about .Realty. While driving home from the gym today, i see a real estate sign in front of a neighbors home that reads; "Waterway Realty". Ironically I own Waterway.Realty that i registered over 30 days ago. The sign also read "Sale Pending", and since it listed for 1.145M I'm guessing it sold for over a million dollars. I've since reached out to the realtor/broker who it turns out I know her husband. I've not heard back from her yet, but I do expect to. I'll keep you posted.

Now's the time where the rubber meets the road. Epik has agreed to help tune up my landing pages, but I'm not relying on that for sales. I'm even more confident now about my decision to create a portfolio of real estate domains than I was when the .99 cent sale started 60 days ago.

    Good Luck Everyone!

    Go .Realty

    Hi Brad,

I'm currently in negotiations with a real estate company to sell one of my best Realty domains.

From what I can tell from my research, this company looks to be doing well selling premium properties in the Caribbean.

My domain is perfect for a newer sales method and this company is actively using that method.

So basically the price I'm willing to sell this domain is much higher than the basic $999.

To put this one word dictionary term in perspective, the equivalent dot com is valued at $2,250,000 on NameWorth.

Dofo says that there are 254 extensions registered & 76 for sale using this term.

So the answer to your question at least for me is maybe :)

The closest thing i own to a Caribbean domain is Bahama.Realty, and I might have to take a trip to the Bahamas to sell it. At least I could write the trip off as a business expense:xf.wink:

    Good luck negotiating Brad(y)

Thanks, but I guess you missed the memo sent out letting us know it's now okay to sell domains virtually :)

Well I must admit I failed to take my own advice about the promo ending and forgot to do a final review and reg of the last 193 .Realty domains on my maybe list - oh well.

I just ran the list and 182 are still available but I'll pass at $54,418 - Ugh!

My only real issue with promoting them, is the lack of enough time to do it correctly. I invested a good chuck of money in excellent tools and resources for this project so I better use them.

I can't afford the time right now because my main project which is my new domain tool is getting close to launch. Plus, assisting my elderly father is a huge distraction which doesn't help at all. In fact, it quickly kills my energy when I have to deal with his stuff.

So I guess I need to check-in with you to see how my existing tools and resources could help us both or even anyone else who wants to join in.

I hear ya Brad....but now I have to make the time to market my .realty domains. I have a friend who was homeless and living in a tent this time last year, and while I can't share the whole story, Jeff is going to help me sell my .Realty domains.

    For now here are the tools I'll be using;

    1. Good Looking Landing Pages for my domains
2 A marketplace website specifically dedicated to .Realty domains
    3. A 2-3 minute Youtube video promoting .Realty Domains
    4. Some Slick Post Card Marketing
    5. Targeted email
    6. Telesales calling realtor/agents

That's it for now Brad. Let me know what I can help you with, and let me know about the new tools you're developing when you get a chance. Good Luck!

    Go .Realty

    Brad etal....i finally have most of my .Realty domains ready for show. To get a feel for how "end users" will be viewing them, check these out....just key them into your URL;

    Yorktown.Realty
    TheKeys.Realty
    Varsity.Realty
    Admiral.Realty
    Yankee.Realty
    MidAtlantic.Realty
    Seasonal.Realty
    NewDay.Realty
    Ebony.Realty
    Cougar.Realty
    BroadBay.Realty

The preceding are examples of the many looks a realtor/agent will see when they get an email from me.

Finally, this is a giant step forward for this old guy, and I can't wait to get into the game. Any questions...fire away:xf.smile:

    as an fyi...i just registered two TLD's to market .Realty and other real estate domains. Here they are;

    RealtyNames.us
    RealtyDomains.us

Another NP member who I met about a month ago, and who owns quite a few good .Realty domains is developing a website using these domains. Dot .US seemed appropriate especially since RealtyNames.com and RealtyDomains.com were both taken, and most of our .Realty domains are for cities, towns, and neighborhoods in the us.

We'll share once we're up and running.

Really hope it works out - fingers crossed!

I have not got nearly the number that @ThatNameGuy has, but amidst being a procrastinator I have not got most of the ones that I do have with landers setup. Plan to get that done by early January.

So sorry to hear that your elderly father is not well. Thoughts with you.

I haven't heard back on this which is unfortunate but not a total surprise since this happens quite often.

Thanks for your concern about my elderly father, he's mostly doing okay he's just very difficult to deal with ugh!
