Hey all figured with the recent .io 6 figure sale and the nice .xyz sale by a follow NP member. We should open a showcase and discussion thread here.

Metaverse is a fast growing keyword, term and niche! Let's share and discuss our name and news.

I've only got One to start with but its a GOOD one my favorite ending keyword on most names.

MetaverseHub.com

Welcome! :)

always asked myself why did they had to introduce .co domains...

The decision for that is made up by people, that have no sense for style, economics etc.

Guess they would most likely give any word on this planet a tld : )
dot-CO is the cctTLD for Columbia. The 2 letter ccTLD domains are taken directly from ISO3166-Alpha-2 (with a few exceptions), that's why they had to introduce it - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ISO_3166-1_alpha-2

dot-CO has been live since 1991 - https://www.iana.org/domains/root/db/co.html

More mystifying to me is why they let in "niche" ones like dot-HORSE or dot-CLEANING

can you educate me? what are handshake SLD mean? i thought all meta.xxxx were taken
That's quite a long piece of string, I'll try & be brief. Here's a start -> https://handshake.org/

Handshake is a community run blockchain alternative to the ICANN ROOT zone, not supported by ICANN. You can register pretty much any TLD name, not already taken, except those in the Amazon trademark database & those in the ICANN ROOT - so emoji TLDs are really popular.

There are now over 2M names in the Handshake ROOT. All ICANN TLDs still work when using the handshake ROOT. All Handshake TLDs are sold in a pubic (blockchain) auction & paid for using $HNS crypto

Like ICANN TLD's you can offer second level registrations in your TLDs. Namebase is a popular platform for registering TLDs - https://www.namebase.io/ but, like any blockchain, you can do it all directly from your PC (skills required). Namebase offer an option in their interface to offer up your TLD for SLD registrations, called "staking" your TLD.

Selling SLDs in your TLD can give you a passive income, but people who work at promoting their handshake TLD to the community get more sales. Currently popular are dot-1, dot-C, dot-TX, dot-API, dot-TXT, dot-DEFI, dot-JS

Some SLD registries are also blockchain, some are not. The Namebase SLD registry is not blockchain, its exactly the same as an ICANN registry.

The Namebase registry currently has over 1100 TLDs staked & you can buy SLD's from Pork Bun, 101domains, epik and gateway·io

Right now, using them is tricky, but that will change very shortly - a fork of a very popular browser with built-in handshake support is in alpha-test.

BTW: IMHO we should have a handshake forum on this site, by now.

Just saw a preview of the new Spider-man movie where Peter gets pulled into a Metaverse (think Sliders). Exciting to see the name used in cinema

Just looking through some 'metaverse' domains i've had in my account in the past.

MetaVRse dot com (sold)
VirtualMetaverse dot com (dropped)
vMetaverse dot com (dropped)
Metaverse247 dot com (dropped)
Metaverse365 dot com (dropped)

M-E-T-A-V-E-R-S-E dot com (dropped)
^^
I wouldn't register that with any domain, not even something like 'casino' but i think it works with 'metaverse'.

Names i've dropped though :tightlyclosedeyes:

You mean Multiverse? Many people have used Multiverse to describe a Metaverse but the more common definition is more related to multi-dimensions (think Rick and Morty) with multiple versions of reality.

I think that is the more common definition for Multiverse, but there are a few weirdos (IMO) who like to take cool sounding words and slapping whatever meaning they want in it, so in general it can mean "multiple verses" in any context, including multiple Metaverse, or multiple "verses" in an umbrella Metaverse, but my understanding is that the latest spider man is about time lines, so it's more about multiple realities than a multiverse
..

If I were an investor with a lot of cash to invest and Meta Games dot com were available I wouldn't touch it with a stick 😂.
