Hey all figured with the recent .io 6 figure sale and the nice .xyz sale by a follow NP member. We should open a showcase and discussion thread here.

Metaverse is a fast growing keyword, term and niche! Let's share and discuss our name and news.

I've only got One to start with but its a GOOD one my favorite ending keyword on most names.

MetaverseHub.com

Welcome! :)

In regards to the Facebook Topic on metaverse and recent name change announcement

We have already pointed out

Meta.com forwards to .org (Facebook)

I just now realized that

Meta.ai also Forwards to .org (Facebook)

That now makes 3 EMD META .extension by FB

......
EDIT::
Also have a LOOK... I swear just yesterday:xf.eek: Meta.com forwarded to .org now it does not!! It's not!
@equity78 did it not?
Still forwarding to org!

That is weird - defo still forwarding, just checked.....

Did they bock my IP? Lol can't see that, have barely visited the name.

I may just need to restart and clear cookie and cache, I know this happens on other homepages for me sometimes with dashboards

Wouldn't make sense at all to call themselves 'metaverse'. Would require rebranding 10 years down the road again.

In fact, it has already happened once with a competitor. FB could simply rename the holding company containing all new ventures, projects and initiatives. Just like the rebranding from Google to Alphabet, which has not suffered any drawbacks from this name change.

Edit: others have mentioned this as well.

Zuck's ego. He's highly competitive and competition is what he loves for now. He's not *really* in this game for the money. With others jumping in the game and making announcements, I bet he has trouble sleeping at night. People don't take Facebook that seriously, especially the dev community, despite the fact that them acquiring oculus Kickstarted VR again. The idea that the many have is that FB doesnt have the vision to make anything original and compelling. They're so clean and plastic, but that's appropriate for a lot of applications. I think they have a chance for success depending on what kind of "Metaverse" they're working on, but I'm more interested in open frameworks, Mozilla led, WWW Consortium based Web XR than I am walled gardens that are fueled by advertising and consumer data the way FB is going to make it. Hard to say for sure until I see it though of course.

I posted a few pages back it would be like a company in the 90s calling themselves "internet" - don't make sense to me, I could be wrong though.......

I was thinking about it last night. I can see why Facebook would rebrand. Facebook is a bit of an outdated name, I remember early to mid 00’s and thinking about sites that probably influenced Facebook (Faceparty, Facepic, MySpace), they’ve all vanished now but Facebook are still using early/mid 00’s name.

I think it does make sense for them to brand around the metaverse. Over 1 billion users they’ve essentially built a metaverse, I guess now (for them) it’s about being called that (if they do decide brand around it) and taking it to the next stage, focusing on virtual tech/their own currency etc.

HAHAHA it's fine and dandy to post about how Facebook is rebranding (surely there could be a seperate thread for that also) - but not fine to say how endless end users are rebranding away from .com - for the metaverse (new internet that doesn't exist that will be built upon "web3"). You win!

Branding around the metaverse is not calling yourself it though......Said it a few times now, every company will have their own metaverse in place - for me it will not be a unique phrase and not something I would personally want to brand a business around.......You want to stand out from the crowd, not be part of it....

They do have the claim to fame that they own the "metaverse" (in .com at least)

Seeing any action in that space?
Decent traffic, but nothing else - it is either going to take off in a big big way later down the road or.......not.

It's a calculated punt and time will tell if I'm right or wrong

Once I offered to the great scientist, the father of machine learning Geoffrey Hinton, who at that time was working on the Brain project in Google, to buy my name brain.ai . And he called me a parasite. So, you are all parasites who want to cash in on the Metaverse!

In fairness humans have a lot of parasitic traits. The world isn't a mess for no reason. Maybe if you wanted to help him, rather than feed off him? LOL
