Hey all figured with the recent .io 6 figure sale and the nice .xyz sale by a follow NP member. We should open a showcase and discussion thread here.

Metaverse is a fast growing keyword, term and niche! Let's share and discuss our name and news.

I've only got One to start with but its a GOOD one my favorite ending keyword on most names.

MetaverseHub.com

Welcome! :)

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
So is it preferable to use plural words after meta?

Let's discuss Metaverse related domain names please.
LOL, so transparent. As I said earlier people have been posted "meta" sales that have / likely have nothing to do with the "metaverse" but those got disagreed with also.
We all know all this hype is off the back of NFTs (e.g. what is metaverse.sothebys.com all about > NFTs).
The future of the naming system is of course very relevant discussion.

The Metaverse, Web3, and the Inevitability of NFTs

"I firmly believe two trends will shape the world in the next 10–15 years:
  • The Metaverse, and its proliferation on all aspects of society
  • Web3 and the democratization of the Internet
And the arrival of both trends will firmly rely on
And you’re able to do so with the power of NFTs..."

IME most civilians have no clue what web3 means and cannot understand it.

Lets get back to topic.

All big sales for the meta/metaverse keywords are 2020 - 2021 not before and clearly relevant, and not even scratching the surface.

Dude, 2 out of 11 are .coms, that's 18%. And 1 definitely has nothing to do with the metaverse, MetaPress.com

Never left the topic personally, only you did.

But you'll can dislike & disagree, personally not affected by FOMO & hatred.

And did it ever occur to you they didn’t buy the names in com because in most cases people ask considerably more for those? Why are you trying to turn this thread into a pissing contest about com versus other extensions ? The commonality is Meta.

Also meta press does have articles about different facets of future tech and metaverse concepts so for you to say decisively it wasn’t a meta sale is over reaching.

Yesterday I saw MetaCoins dot com with a BIN on AfterNic/GoDaddy at $6700 (make an offer at $3800) – But if you tracked the owner they had a BIN on their own website for $170,000.

I was going to buy it, but it was one of those where I thought ‘if it’s too good to be true it probably is’ experience with 'too good to be true' BIN's on Afternic in the past, they was just that and fake listings (i bought VRSex dot com once for $10k and I got refunded), so contacted the owner directly and said $4,500 payment via Escrow.com.

Straight away they put the price up to $300k, so they was the legit owner and I think it was a case they forgot to put the price up

Wish I bought it now, they would have had to honor the deal if they wanted to keep their GoDaddy/Afternic account.

Money was to be made on that.

I recently brought a "NFT" name the same way you described. It was WONDERFUL.

I'd say 90percent of domainers here would have done the same, so don't feel bad missing out on it

I agree. We dont have to validate if a seller forgot to edit their prices. It is not our responsibility to do so. Buyers purchase names according to the prices listed in the Marketplace. I have no regrets.

It’s apparent that in the area of domains and the function of .com to brands, you come off as less informed on the concept, just a current view, seems you some how web3 will make com obsolete just be the mere “choice move from”.

It’s ok to have your own opinion

They aren’t choosing much of all, yet having to get Very creative! As the BEST names and BRANDS in com have been taken forever ago.

Optting for .io .xyz and others does make sense to build on, while growing and raising capital, and then maybe acquire there emd .com or rebrand to a new Name when funds allow.

The Metaverse is NOT riding of the hype of NFTs as it’s part of it, just as crypto is part of it, just as gaming is sort of it , just as esports is part of it ..and so on and so on.

Matter a fact if you go back and look in the DeFi thread well over a year ago….I SAID this was going to happen. Before any of NFT hype, I said then, Defi , money, gaming , betting, entertainment…it’s all merging for ONE new element, all piece of the “puzzle”……..Each ONE of these NICHES has a ROLL to play in making the Metaverse happen, making it work, making it a reality.

Discussion is great and I’m not knocking anybody for that and you’re more than welcome to I think the Metaverse is extremely interesting why Elad and I also invested in it very early since we started this thread.

To be honest it does seem a bit odd a profile as new as yours I see you’ve only been a member here since July and a couple post in and to really be harping on the-anti-.com thread and my honest view it really just comes across as someone trying to batter down.com prices hoping someone out there is foolish enough to drop a good one so someone else can pick it up. I may be wrong and you just may honestly just think the.com don’t matter and will not matter but again the public trust it will and that’s the only reason you will find that the biggest crypto exchanges out there :

Coinbase Bitstamp.com or .rg & Binance. And they right now I have the masses attention and their wallets and accounts. trusted extensions. Don’t get me wrong I still love.io that a I XYZ and all that I can just understand that utilization and want to utilize that I want to go for a com)

This is directed to all reading, so I can squash this debate about short biz long (there is no debate some people just have a preference and I respect that too)

Meta - short and great for brand and branding, many sales also meany other meanings than just the “Metaverse “ yes I agree we will see More sales in meta for these 2 reasons..however

Metavese +
While we currently see lack of sales on the longtail +keyword as it’s very early

I’m going to say right now, when they happen, a few will shatter current prices in price records. I guarantee it. While there may be fewer sales in numbers, the price in which some of these WILL go for will be a shock to most. Another reason for lack of metaverse sales is also the fact that most if not all the BEST Top Keywords are locked up either in companies or in investors who are not selling for 4 figures bin on An ft dsl …or they would’ve sold already lol ( if one would think these companies making these other BIG .net .org .co purchases would not snap up some of these exact match long tail versions if they were priced at $x,xxx BIN right now and you’ve not been doingYOR on this forum long enough)

“Meta”is cool but “Metaverse” is also fun to say fun to look at to cool a word to chop up and not use, the same thing with Blockchain, but if you just say “block “ - block what? Block is a good brand when you say blockhub or BlockPros BlockTech but it’s not the same as “Blockchain” plus keyword:

Here are some examples for those who may have doubts that long tables will not sell: or be devD

(Notice +GOOD keywords) not some random +myhairygreenchair.com Poor lol blah blah (blockchait.com however good it’s devD lol)

BlockchainGaming.com
BlockchainHub.com
BlockchainLabs.com

And here some examples of the keyword with average Brandable words added

AgroBlockchain.com
RiotBlockchain.com

(My favorite) The great motivational speaker, Les Brown that I follow and listen to he once said :

“be careful what you say and how you speak because when Once you open your mouth you tell the world who you are”

In todays online world, your website, your domain, your virtual identity is the same thing it tells the world who you are and if you want mass adoption….well you can walk into any Walmart right now & 98.6% of people you look at won’t even know that. .xyz .ego .hashpound .124 .bagel . blah blah blah even exist.

Again I’m not against these extensions simply just saying I personally have a different view and understanding of and for their utilization in the present time of todays world.

Sorry for the long post everyone I try not to do this because my writing is not that great and then I go on rants but also I kind of figured I wanted to get all my thoughts out and done in one post so I don’t have to do it over and over. Most of all I spend 30mins correcting typos on mobile lol)

GL to all!

Enjoy the thread and be kind to one another! :)

Wow,
Since the dawn of civilization, humans have had only one world in which to live: the real one. But tech visionaries say we’ll soon have an alternative ( I own Alternative Verse In dawt com): a virtual world where our digital avatars(i own D'avatars in dawt com) and those of people in our communities and around the globe come together to work, shop, attend classes, pursue hobbies, enjoy social gatherings and more.
