The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
Yes, you definitely want a distro with all the forensics tools already on board.

not sure if there's a way to ping you more broadly
That's a good idea.

Currently, we have:

is it possible for you to say why @shoulda9393 was just banned?
We display a general indicator on accounts.

Here's the explanation for this one:
Account Closed (Disallowed): Indicates that the account is not allowed. Generally, it means the account is a duplicate/secondary account and either (1) they must upgrade it or upgrade their primary account to re-open it, or (2) the member is not allowed another account, regardless of upgrades, due to restrictions on one of their accounts.
Learn more.

Unless it's a matter of public interest (e.g., fraud), we respect their privacy and don't share their other account(s).

As far as we can tell, there is nothing nefarious about this member; they simply created another account for privacy reasons, allegedly afraid to challenge Rob without anonymity (and presumably the hackers, as well). We don't have reason to believe otherwise.

We hope that helps.

Rob's business was incompetent in their security practices. Hackers have most or all of the moral blame here, and will likely get prosecuted. Also, reported your post to moderators.

And on a note unrelated to you, those who knowingly spread misinfo about the Epik customer base, or are chummy with hackers, are also not good faith contributors here and their presence should not be tolerated.

Most people effected by the hack don't even know of this forum (or any domain forums), which is probably why bad faith people like conspiracy theorists, hackers, and epik customer misinfo spreaders (separate people often) have been setting up shop here and elsewhere.

Again, this isn't a matter of incompetence, it is a matter of FRAUD. Monster sold Epik as the Swiss Bank of Domains, promised that it was top notch security when in reality he has never even seen the code or had it reviewed. That is like a car manufacturer saying their cars are totally safe but they have never tested a single one, just had some engineer say it was safe.

He then got around people asking specifics about the security with over the top Christian talk and tons of personal promises and then when he was caught lying about his products he wages personal attacks, threatens, and even hires investigators to research and harass critics. It is literally a criminal network.

Is there a way to get users to admit if they are employed or being compensated in ANY way for posting? As we all know it is not above Monster to have employees and shills stuff polls so having them post on Epik behalf is not much of a stretch.

Probably not, but it isn't productive to continuously question participants' motives in a discussion; this isn't a poll. Their posts either have merit or they don't, and who is making them isn't relevant to that.

Please, for the millionth time, stop discussing each other in this thread.

Wikipedia has been accused several times in this thread of incorrectly giving Epik a certain incorrect label. The article on Wikipedia however, is based on other sources that already had given this label to Epik, such as Fox. If you want to correct the image, you will have to contact these media companies instead of Wikipedia editors.

(or change the business model)

That "label" (known for providing services to websites that host far-right, neo-Nazi, and other extremist content) is the only reason Epik is even relevant enough to meet Wikipedia's notability guideline.

At least before the data breach that is now the other thing Epik is known for.

Hopefully we will not see accounts saturating and diluting the thread with posts not directed to the primary focus which is: Epik's response to the hack, actions (and lack of) that led to the hack, and the impact of the hack. This is a strategy that potentially could be used to gaslight and confuse. I know you guys are doing your best and this is not an easy job.

One led to the other. Epik received a lot of backlash for that position, both here and in the media. Mostly the CEO's overtly voicing his tacit approval for such sites. It eventually reached someone who could do and has done a lot of damage.

And it should also be noted that no one ever wished Epik destroyed, not on this forum, not as far as I can remember. People wanted to shake the CEO to be more responsible and serious.

The Return of Hacktivism
"Massive data dumps from inside Twitch and Epik may signal a new era in the world of moralistic hacking."

(Podcast, Oct 15, 2021)

Over the last month, the domain company Epik and the streaming service Twitch have fallen prey to massive-scale hacks. The hackers revealed not just email addresses, but detailed personal information too. For Twitch, it was the entire source code for their site.

But the attackers aren’t holding this data for ransom. In fact, they don’t seem to want much of anything. What’s motivating this new wave of activist hacks? And who suffers?

Guest: Drew Harwell, tech reporter at the Washington Post
Host: Lizzie O’Leary

Ahem, they were Namepros 2020 Registrar of the Year.

Some claim that was a fix with all the employees registered at NP's. Why didn't they win in 2021?

Come on John. Lighten up. Everyone likes lemonade.

Show attachment 201807

As for TrustPilot, I think their content integrity team is pretty mighty.

As for TrustRatings, we have not stuffed the ballot as far as I know.

As for staff from Epik on NP, really most have moved on. :)

Hugs to you.

personally, I'm really pissed to read your lemonade Bullshit again and again.
Stop spamming that thread.

And stop praying for me..
and hugs .. are you crazy?

Rob is posting pictures of lemonade, popcorn, and humble bragging about the activity on a thread regarding his companies poor security while also providing no updates.

I wonder if Rob's customers will find his responses as amusing as he does.

Brad

meanwhile it sounds to me like he has gone mad

I never claimed to currently have any domains at Epik. I if I did, I would have moved them out after you shared the video of innocent people being slaughtered in the New Zealand shooting and implied it was a hoax....

Brad

great move
the only acceptable move
in my opinion

before I forget:
when RM claims to have more domains "under management" as of september 2021
that doesn't mean registered domains at epik

that means people using the feature of adding all their domains into epiks
domain manager. that is a useless feature
the only benefit is to RM so he can claim
epik has "millions of domains" " under management"

His responses are just mind boggling. It's like there is no self awareness. Why is it so hard to answer the questions raised? We can only presume. It's seems like it is a game for him. Like it is a joke. There is no seriousness whatsoever.

The answers will come naturally.

Yep, you can file this under fallout from the Epik data breach, and the connections people have already made. This data breach likely played a major role.

I am sure this information is going to continue to be very interesting to the FBI, DOJ and other investigative agencies.

By the way, @Rob Monster, I asked you many times and people here even tagged Opryshko directly and still no answer.

Is Vitaliy Opryshko still Head Of Software Development at Epik dot com.

Is Epik still using Kenn Palm's We Can Develop IT! as it's software development service provider?

These questions are very relevant in context of current news. Thank you for questioning.

We did not allow 8-Chan to use Epik and yet General Flynn is an Epik client. We did not believe 8-Chan was capable of self-governing in 2019. And yet, in 2020 I had no issue with empowering General Flynn.

I understand. Thank you for answering this one.

Making a statement about empowering a known spreader of misinformation is pandering to an audience that will only further embolden the spread. Great short term strategy to grab all the low hanging fruit, but it seems like a long term nightmare once the dust settles. It is one thing to paint a target on your back with the idea “If not me, then who”, but this seems like giving potential persistent threats a gift wrapped laser scope. I guess time will tell.

Sinclair media used this strategy…

From a risk management perspective as far as ensuring the future security of insecurity this may be a poor strategy.
