Here's my question..what is the value of domain hack? I've seen some good domain hack and i was wondering about the value of it. I myself own one and i'm not sure whether or not i should get more. I haven't seen any sale of domain hack. Why do we register domain hack? Is it because the domain looks cool or because there's a potential end user who's willing to buy such domain?

This is a creative and conceptual use of the excellent domain hack, contou.rs. Domain hacks rule, and .com is something your grand-dad used to use... End of story. And some of you are going to make bank in the next year with your hacks, there's no doubt about it.

Guys I am selling a bunch of Bitcoin related hacks here bargain bin prices. The Bitcoin domain hack Bitko.in sold for $3,525 earlier this year. The CCTLD .in is naturally the only way to own a Bitcoin domain hack. Some names included are below:

openBitco.in
bigBitco.in
betBitco.in
secureBitco.in
onlineBitco.in

$8 each?!.. Someone is going to get a real bargain here. All of these names have at least some potential, but in my opinion the best of the bunch (by far) is betbitco.in. This domain is worth waAAAaay more than $8, particularly in light of how well freebitco.in have done *.

For your own sake, you might want to hold this one back from sale, and let the others go for $8?... Betbitco.in is easily worth thousands in my opinion, and may arguably be a better domain than freebitco.in...

* According to sources on the web, freebitco.in are now said to have over 38 million members!

Nice! I guess you did heed to the good advice. Don't rush to liquidate those domains.

Thanks for the advice guys I suppose I need a bit more patience. I have removed the better names :) but still open to selling some. Happy to do bulk offer to members of this thread too!

Guess the hack...

They're a German water filter company, who are selling filters in India, but in their (unintended) hack they refer to a place-name in Europe. Hmm!...

Haha! Got it. Nice find on accidental hacks. :xf.grin:
I feel domain hacks are hidden jewels in the address space of the Internet. Except that they're hiding in plain sight. They are truly unique. As you can have xyz.anything, but only one x.yz. (Except occasionally when you have multiple hacks possible). No extra bits anywhere!

A nice little hack find here, that's available for reg fee. It could, perhaps, be a highlight of someone's week?:

triggered.me

(could be ideal as a news or personal "rant" site?)

Just a couple more. Both reg fee and available now:

viewed.us

(a social site?)

mowed.it

(gardening services?)

Why not just get a good keyword domain that makes sense for the topic of the website or a brandable name? It's hard enough to build a sizeable website.

Hmm, well this certainly sounds interesting!.. Can you give us examples of the domains you're talking about here, Mike? :xf.wink:

This is the kind of domain hacker I admire... In 2003 (or before), when practically no one was "hacking" names, this guy comes along with the domain hack, wristwat.ch:

The hack itself is pre-millennium (verify at: nic.ch/en), and of course the Swiss are famous for making wrist-watches... The domain extension (.ch) is also Swiss, and in his website logo (see Archive.org link above), he also managed to incorporate the Swiss flag!

To do that, in 2003, when hardly anyone back then knew what a domain hack was, is nothing short of incredible...

This, to my mind, is a real domain hacking "hero", and I doubt anyone even knows his name. :xf.frown:

Catch is one of the oldest domain hack registrations under Switch, the Swiss registry.

First registration date: 07 February 1996

Internet is older than almost every domain hack we came across. Registered since 1992.

Although my comment wasn't just about early-dated hacks, Dhananjeyan, you are right; there were, indeed, earlier registered hacks than wristwat.ch.
