Hey, I am new to domain investing and yesterday I was looking at a domain name on Godaddy auction and I thought the price starts from $5 so I typed 5 and place a bid but the starting bid was $270. I am the only one who is bidding on this domain name emmabuntonofficial com.

I contacted GoDaddy about this and they said you have to pay for the domain after the auction will end.

I want to know is it compulsory to pay for the domain name after the auction ends also I cannot remove my credit card from Godaddy now.

Lol, that’s the proxy bid in action.

The #’s keep it anonymous,

You have no idea who’s high bid you were outbidding against, shouldnt exceed budget.

I’ll @Joe Styler, does great job, fixing problems

Yes, you committed.

For first time thing, maybe they’ll let it pass, but (non-paying) is frowned upon in industry.

I’ll defer to Styler, likely will ask u to email; he will prioritize your ticket.

New accounts are prohibited from DMing, for security reasons.

I just did, by putting “@“ before NP username.

serves same equivalence, should b here soon

If you initially placed a bid for $5 and the starting bid is $270, there is no way your bid would be taken.

Something does not add up here.

Why should Joe waste his time? To call on him every time a customer has no clue what they're doing is completely ludicrous.

I am very sorry for that its my first time bidding on an domain. I will never do such things ever in future.

You could not of bid $5 - it is showing 1 bid for me in sterling as I'm in the UK of £195 ($270)

Are you just regretting the bid and want to take it back?

Don't worry, everyone makes mistakes. But tbh, I don't think your bid even counted, unless you then entered a higher amount.

Yeah, this doesn't make sense. I can't see how the scenario the OP is describing is possible.

Also, for future reference avoid bidding on domains related to celebrity names.

Well, can't say about everything that happens but one thing is clear. If you don't pay, you will no longer have an account on GD Auctions. Unsure if you're going to have a GD account at all.

Can i bid from an different account if my GD auction account got suspended?

Before bidding again i will try to read as many threads as possible on Namepros

Sometime back i had placed a bid for the first time with +$5 which added to $25. I thought it could be deleted, but once you place the bid it has to be honoured if you win it or else your Auction account could be deleted. But luckily within next 2 days a bid higher than mine was placed and i was relieved. Just Hope, that someone bids higher than you. All the Best.

You are lying.

Not only could a $5 bid not have gone through, but you would have seen the minimum bid amount on the exact field where you type in your bid amount. Such a mistake is impossible.

GD will probably ban your account. You might only be able to participate with another account with a different credit card.

I am not lying actually what happened is I was looking to buy a domain with high DA and my plan was to build an Adsense site and to promote some affiliate offers. I am doing SEO, FB & Google Ads for the past 4 years and I came across a case study on blackhatworld where a guy started earning $25k a month within 2 months with an expired domain so I was just trying to replicate that.

So I was searching for expired domains on expired domains .net, spamzila, and GoDaddy and I found a .org domain on GoDaddy after a week with a DA of 39, and the bid was $150, someone actually using proxy on that domain name, so I was just trying to outbid him/her, now that domain has 20+ bidders.

I just really got frustrated because most of the top domains were having very high bids and I was not in the situation to compete with those people. I was searching for domains for 14-15 hours in a day, after that, I found this domain which I want to get rid of now. First, I thought the $270 bid is a buy now price it's my fault I didn't read it because I was finding and bidding on domains like crazy at that time. So on impulse, I bid on this domain name but realized my mistake after seeing the starting price of $270 but by then it was too late.

It's all my fault and I accept it and I will never bid on any domain impulsively again. I am now realizing that mental health is more important than money.

All I want is just a single chance and I will not repeat this mistake ever again. That's all.

Don't have a job and also no clients so it's better to say goodbye to my auction account.

I realise that you probably made a mistake, but you also need to consider your credibility here.

Bidding and not paying is a serious issue.

Congratulations you are the winner. Just be the best end user you intended to be anyway.
