Ok i am into part time domaining and after having a very dry September decided to tighten any loose ends and make sure that my entire portfolio is listed at Afternic. To my surprise hundreds of my domains were already listed by the past owners at Afternic with many having set threshold of offer as a ridiculous 10,000 USD to ward off any potential buyers. This price itself clarifies that the past owner was aware that the domain is no longer in his/her possession and still did not deleted the listings from their portfolio.

Now i will have to send screenshots of all these domains in my account with the registrar to confirm of my ownership. Upon receipt and verification they will remove the old listings and then again ill have to repeat the process of adding the domains to my portfolio.

Why dosent team Afternic do anything about it ??

I don't see what Afternic can do. People are allowed to sell there domains outside of Afternic. Presumably you knew they were at afternic when you bought them. If you didn't. You should have done. And ask the seller to remove them. That's the best way to handle this. But too late now. I think it is up to you to prove you own these domains. Which you are doing. I know it's frustrating. But then afternic are a frustrating company to deal with.

There is no excuse for Afternic being a day late, a dollar short and unable to modernize how names are listed and delisted. People should have to prove ownership before its allowed on the site. Period. People should have to prove ownership every year to keep it on the site. But as with all things GoDaddy it’s outdated and lacking.

I still get various requests for Afternic fast transfer on names I never put on there years after owning them. The amount of scam artists allowed to list other peoples names on Afternic is pathetic.

And yes you have to prove what you own instead of the scammer having to prove they own the domain they try to submit to fast transfer. They simply don’t care.

There is also the case of unwanted, erroneous still remaining records.

I delist everything sold. But at 25 k names and multiple places listed, sometimes certain names slip through despite all that.

I have a habit to re-check but still sometimes there is too little time and yet some might slip through and still be at Afternic. And that's not good - for both parties.

I'm planning to create a monitor to warn me if something is listed somewhere by accident. Cause this can seriously impact my account should a sale come and I don't own the domain anymore.

With large numbers, I think technology is the only way to make things right. Humans make errors.

Also at Afternic one cannot use the Excel sheet to upload names in bulk as in that case these 'Existing Listings' error of Afternic gets ignored altogether. So i have to list 50 names (which is the limit to add to ones portfolio using the existing interface) and wait for the 'Red Flags' to pop up and take individual note of these 'failed' domains. Sometimes these flags popup after hovering for a good whole minute. In the other marketplace i use i.e. Dan i simply get a 'status report' citing the domains which have failed cause of such past owners old listing. And a simple chat message to Dan solves the problem instantly.

Also the reason behind almost 30% of listings immediately going 'Under Review' promptly after adding the domains to portfolio everytime is still a mystery to me.

I'm not sure what you do. I have 25k names, without sheet upload it would be crazy. 50 at a time? Not possible. I think you are wasting a lot of time.

What I do is wait 20 minutes for the upload to finish. Then harvest the few domains that appear in the "already listed" messages, do the screenshots for them at registrar accounts and then email Afternic team to remove them. Once removed by Afternic team, at the next upload they all get in.

I email support through the website. They have gotten much better recently, often removing the old listings the same day. I don't need to send screenshots
