Dan users: Installments? Make Offer? What do YOU think?

Hi all.

I've been going back and forth on these and I'm wondering how others feel about it.

1. Installments - Do you have the Installment option turned on, or off? Do you think it helps with getting sales, or hurts? It's better for the buyer if they can make payments, but it's better for the seller if they don't (no risk in having them change their mind a few months into the agreement).

2. Make Offer - Do you have this turned on, or off? Part of me likes it because it allows the buyer to start up a conversation. But I dislike it because it sends a signal to the buyer that I'm willing to accept less for the domain. I wish Dan.com would let the buyer send a message to the seller, within their system of course. This would open up a dialogue without having to say "Make an offer," but they won't do it.

Just looking for input and opinions for those who use Dan. Different perspective, etc.

Thanks! 🙂

lots of fake buyers using the "make offer" option...
they negotiate and they never pay...big waste of time for me.
It would be nice to have a marketplace where the payment is automatically made when an agreement is reached.

That's why I'd like to see a "Contact Seller" option. I want the opportunity to converse with the buyer, to at least open the door, without having them think that they can buy the name for less. It could be an optional feature that could be turned on or off per Dan account.

To solve your problem why dont you just use BIN ?

I agree...no matter how an individual is trained at a marketplace, nor how much commission they might make, there is no one more intent on selling my name as I am. Being able to contact and interact with the buyer by myself (or my associate) has resulted in a sale in at least a third of those that did not go for the BIN.

Yep. It's really frustrating to me that Dan doesn't have a Contact the Seller feature. If they allow the buyer to contact the seller by making an offer, why won't they allow the buyer to contact the seller to start a dialogue, without any mention of an offer. I sincerely believe it would result in more sales (which means more money for Dan as well).

I know that it can become a bit of headache but that is one reason to be honest I often decline or turn off during the sales timeline the privacy options on domain ownership with my registrar.
If you have a fear of what that might open you up to in scammers or marketing calls just set up a 2nd phone virtual line or email acct specifically used for that purpose with an autoreply and spam filter turned on etc...

Enable captcha for ALL visitors and set default MinimumOffer to at least mid $xxx.
Fake bidders almost disappeared for me using this setup.
