I registered this domain a while ago, and I was considering either setting up a website or selling it.

In your opinion, how much do you think this domain might be worth?

Thank you, jhm! I'm glad I found this website, and I appreciate you putting together this list of great leads.

I'm an engineer who lives in the Seattle area, so this domain name resonated with me. It was interesting to see that a few of those website in your list were focused on similar areas. :)

Not quite sure what you mean by "registered this domain a while ago, and I was considering either setting up a website or selling it"...

Creation Date: 2001-06-18

Domain has been registered for more than 20 years. Does this mean that you are the original registrant? And if you've had it for 20 years, why are you just now considering developing or selling it? What's it been doing for the last 20 years? - I would have checked to see, but Archive.org is down for maintenance right now :)

It is a valuable domain. Taken in 18 extensions. The plural Rainlabs is also taken in a bunch of ext, and the .com is developed by a financial company. 'Rain' is a good financial word also, since 'making it rain' and 'rainmaker' and a few other rain-related phrases refer to bringing in the moneymakers and profits.

Rainlab dot com has value to any company that has 'rain' in their brand (and many do). It is valuable to any agricultural company; not just those who grow produce, but also those who manufacture/sell any products for agriculture. You'll find many agricultural companies have 'rain' in them, and 'lab' is a super second keyword, especially for the science, research & development of any agricultural producer/provider.

Mainly wondering what the story is... why you've had it for 20 years and are just now wondering what to do with it... on face value the story doesn't add up, so hopefully you'll fill us in and end the great mystery :)

Thanks so much for this info, Bannen! I like my domain for my own reasons, but it's exciting to think of how it might be of value to others. About the great mystery, my story isn't very exciting, but here it goes!:xf.smile:

I'm not the original registrant of this domain. I registered it about 11 years ago along with another domain. I set up a website on the other one, but I haven't had the time in the past to set one up on RainLab.com. More recently, I've been thinking about either building a website for it or selling the domain instead of just paying registration fees for it every year.

I've looked around for appraisals, and those have ranged from less than $100 to more than $4000. I was hoping to get a better idea of what it might be worth to a buyer, so I posted this here. Everyone here seems to have really great insight, and as I said to jhm, I feel fortunate to have found this website!

My 2 cents. Before knowing that this name is taken in 18 extensions, I would say lower thousands. It's just punchy.
Now, I checked some of the tlds taken, and it appears that many of them lead to:
https://www.izb-online.de/unternehmen/rainfarn-labor/ back end.
So, you may want to talk to these guys. Hard to see why they bought so many tld, but there is a chance they may be interested in com.
Some tlds are unavailable. A Russian site sells umbrellas:)
So, yes, this name can be used across various subjects.
And I still think lower thousands :)
Apart of checking these German guys, I would do the same thing as @jhm - ''Offers Accepted''

I am pretty sure that I would never have found that info about izb-online.de on my own. Thank you for researching this and posting this info here, VadimK Iberica! A Russian site that sells umbrellas sounds really cool, too.:-D

Some other existing .com sites I looked at that I thought might be interested in this domain were therainlab, reinlab, reignlab and ranelab. Besides Google searches, I also looked through the Wikipedia disambiguation pages for rain to see what other people might be interested in this domain.

I also think lower thousands is a fair price for this domain, and "Offers Accepted" makes sense too. I will probably try to set up a website on it in the short term (New Year's resolution:)), and then reconsider selling it again if that does not happen. Thanks so much to everyone here for your advice and information, I really appreciate it!
