These sales are happening so often for mediocre .xyz names that I'm really beginning to question whether they're real or not. I have no basis for this claim other than a hunch that it's very unusual and it's like a way of whipping up hype. I might be wrong though due to jealousy

I'm really happy for her and xyz. I always knew it though, I must admit I missed out, but not completely like most of the naysayers back then, people hated xyz, probably the most hated extension that ive witnessed with the little time ive been here. All I know is that my xyz domain just went up in value, again, thanks to her.

We'll see, but she does have a lot of ultra premium names, I have 1. We'll see if there are other sales, but quest and flip are up there as far as rareness goes.

Questions I'm asking myself...

Why would anyone drop that much on an xyz?
Out of all of the domains in the world why pick that one?
What circumstances came about where they agreed to $69k instead of $30k would the owner realistically have not taken the latter?
Is 'quest' that good of a keyword that I think it's premium enough that if I saw it in .com for the same price I would feel I had gotten a bargain and would I be ecstatic to own it?
Are there thousands of better 'premium' XYZ names like mall.xyz, mentor.xyz, group.xyz, let.xyz, well.xyz, research.xyz, global.xyz, create.xyz (and those are just a few that I just saw) with buy now prices of half the amount?

I haven't seen who bought it or what their plans are for the name, have you? There isn't that much hype surrounding xyz so I don't think I'm completely out of the park with my healthy flabbergast/jealousy combination for this sale.

but.. it appears the trick is to have 20k of them.

that's alright.. sometimes quantity is the strategy.. mixed of course with decent quality.

but yeah.. when yer the only one in world to whom tis happens of course people will ask how..why.. and if u decide to make it all public then u better be prepared to discuss.

I said it over and over it's about yer sold names. and how many of us over years did or still do have better ones. which never sold or sold for 50usd or some other ridiculous figure when compared to yours.

some of yer names sold...again not top names... while most being 1word are of very low quality .. it's not something to be ashamed of..its actually great to sell poor names for good money.. so I'm just stating facts...that many have better names which never sell.

anyway.. congrats on working strategy. u do better than 90% of world domainers I'd say.

top 10% is good place to be. enjoy that and questions and debates too

I realized the importance of this extension 8 months ago and am happy to own few good names. Before investing I studied two domain veterans who have heavily invested in this extension (more than 10K domains) in early 2016. One who is really a great guy and an excellent domain broker was not able to sell even a single XYZ domain and thus dropped all domains after one year. The other one is known as XYZ Queen now. People here are still not realizing why this extension has become hot cake recently:

XYZ means Decentralisation and if we follow the current trend in the tech space and extrapolate, it will only grow at least in the near future. No wonders ENS (.ETH) started supporting this extension three years ago well before they extended it to .com, .org, and .net

There are 3 million .CO domains too, there were 80 sales total above $xx,xxx in the past 3 years, including 3 above $xxx,xxx and I don't consider .CO to be very important.

I don't begrudge anyone owning these names, I wouldn't encourage it due to the lack of chance of success, but I wouldn't discourage it to anyone who can afford it because I don't feel that strongly about it.

Just because there is hype around crypto/NFTs doesn't translate into .XYZ by osmosis because a few companies choose it as an extension to put a flashy splash page on.

A search for "site:.xyz" on Google returns pretty much zero websites worth visiting so either they're doing a bad job of indexing the sites worth visiting or there are hardly any...?

Okay, so I think its my time, as passive researcher of domaining industry to chime in and give few cents (I am not full time domainer, but rather researcher, so this is personal opinion).

1. I believe that sales from @DNGear are actually valid domain name sales in terms of pay'n'push domains.
2. Looking at historic data for .xyz, it's hard to value those names anywhere near figures being thrown at Swetha. Alphabet does give some credibility to the .XYZ as gTLD, but from other standpoint, increasing number of spam coming from these ngTLDs is devaluing them much more, even though relation to the actual names is nn-existent.
3. Quantity / sales ratio does indeed gives credibility to her sales, but also question it: how come that number of premium domain names (creative.xyz, work.xyz, ad.xyz and others) are not being considered as go-to for new companies, or existing ones trying to rebrand? I am full time marketing director and have done rebranding to numerous businesses over the past three years, most to .com but also quite number to ngTLD alternative (lower budget).
4. Most of her reported sales are being either single image landing page or nameserver never changed.
5. Digging deeper, quite number of sold domains never switched registrars.

Although many of my points question her sales, having that huge number of .xyz domains perfectly justify those sales as many of these domains has premium renewal prices, and holding them for even two years without sales would be high risk.

What benefit would i get if we post any sale in NP? Do you really think some NP member would jump and buy my domains for that price? After posting my sales i was the one suffering in auctions at multiple platforms.(Catched, West, Hexonet). Prices are going up in auctions. I am full time marketing director and have done rebranding to numerous businesses over the past three years, most to .com but also quite number to ngTLD alternative (lower budget).
4. Most of her reported sales are being either single image landing page or nameserver never changed.
5. Digging deeper, quite number of sold domains never switched registrars.

Although many of my points question her sales, having that huge number of .xyz domains perfectly justify those sales as many of these domains has premium renewal prices, and holding them for even two years without sales would be high risk.

she can confirm...but I think most her renewals are non prem regular 10usd fee.

and yes ..for sure..expect sceptics when u are the only person in world managing to do a thing... it is natural to get sceptics.

I'd like to caveat what I've said, I'm not trying to "pull others", far from it. But we're a domain forum where we should speak frankly about these things before those that can't afford to invest in things do so with things that might not do anything for them just cause of perceived hype. There's no point in characterizing .XYZ as some kind've utopia that it's not. Congrats on the sales nonetheless and thanks for sharing your sales.

I also agree that you will get sceptics as @alcy just said. If it's working then keep going you have literally nothing to prove to anyone but talking about it is a great thing to do

also with everyone trying to kill it as u put it.. do u really think everyone trying to put it down is wrong and u as being one of few to save it is right?

I was always curious to ask..hopefully u can comment..how does xyz owners react to top seller of their product? do they even react? ty

You didn't answer what kind of .xyz names you have? Do you have any single good keywords with normal renewals?
