The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
I hope Rob posts the steps we should take to secure the account which we can follow once he gets a chance.

If this massive breach is indeed true, it would be a perfect idea to hire an external company for investigation. Don't let the CEO touch anything. That's good practice in Incident Response.

We will have to wait and see what the damage is and not speculate to much until the facts are out.....
Credibility damage is the most important here.
Imagine the potential buyers who visit your domains on Epik landers after such news...

Peoples personal/financial information potentially being stolen is the most important issue here...company credibility can take a back seat until that's been cleared up....

Monster is paying the price of talking too Much NONSENSE here and in his new Domain Forum acquisition several months ago, I cant name that WORTHLESS domain forum, but everybody knows it for SCAMMING PEOPLE years ago with previous owner (A. D*cker AKA DnSCAMMER ).
Monster and his BAD BAD Investment decisions... he bought the Wrong Domain Forum and messed up with the Wrong Persons...

OMG, really?

There is only one wrong here and that is the hackers

Are you telling me that if you disagree with a business they deserve to be hacked?

The hacker has made it clear that is not their intention but nonetheless I agree most heartily with that part of your statement.

it’s a fake “Anonymous”

Anyone can claim to be “Anonymous”

Apparently, epik is too “fascist” for them.

Antifa virtue-signaling hackers. LOL, Clowns,

Samer

DDoS is usually ordered to downgrade or even kill your reputation...
So if competitors hired some hackers (because 1st method is not enough) - I'm not surprised...

In the message it says they're releasing 500k private keys, musing that they don't even know what they're for. So in truth they don't know what they're unleashing access to and probably care even less.

Yes, without a doubt. I have had many issues with Epik and Rob Monster, and would not wish a data breach on anyone. No one wins, with the biggest loser being the customers.

DNS keys?
I have not seen any other keys there.

According to this info, the torrent is larger (180 GB) than what was previously announced.

Have you looked at the contents of the release? I haven't... But they said "Over 500,000 private keys. What are they for? Who knows!".

Presumably keys for protecting some system or another, that's what they're usually for to protect something... Like VPN keys?

500K is like 500K domains on Epik nameservers...
Their DNS signatures.

From 35.6MB to 180GB (pump-up file scheme, a trick previously used by Movie Protection co. More likely this is not a real thing & A is not involved)

Seems as plausible as anything I can come up with. Any musings on what this could affect/expose/compromise if it is?

I have ~30 domains parked on Epik...
Looks that it is better to repark them elsewhere...
Not due to DNSSEC, but even such headlines and hype are enough.
