In the Wanted to Buy section. What does it mean when they said:

Budget: $1-$20,000

Does it mean $1 or $20,000?
Total budget $1,000,000

Who care about your total budget? $1,000,000 so you can buy 1,000,000 names
and what the hell the this range mean? So they can low ball the sellers?

I am too old to get upset. I am just wondering why people would post these nonsense request range. This is not a range at all.

In my opinion we should refer two budgets in want to buy section. One is the whole budget and the other should be budget per name. It would be useful to refer your limits for increasing the budget for top quality names. Example:

Looking for 10 .io domains.

Total budget: $100,000
Budget per name: Up to $1,000
Extra limit for top names: $10,000

I've also seen people requesting a CVCV.com with a budget of $80-$4000.

I also don't understand what's that supposed to mean and how their brain works.

it gives the buyer wiggle room to negotiate ^^'

The brain works like that - they are hoping to get a CVCV at $80 - lol :xf.wink:

Whether the budget is '$1-1,000' or 'Up to $1,000', we can safely assume which end of the scale most buyers will start at.

I get the impression that some buyers are like pawnshop value estimators ;)

Hi

i think....
only what you're willing to pay per name, is relevant.
while most of the big budgets are just for show.

if you got the cash, then spend it and quit the bull :poop:

imo...

i look at them as “Data harvesters.”

Np cant confirm budget, look at user reputation

Please write “no time reply to all” (not obvious)
otherwise, are rude, and waste others’ time. Doesnt change my opinion but shows put effort

theyre taking advantage of NP’s “laissez-faire.”

So much laissez-faire, NP would penalize you, if criticize a thread with $100 budget cvcv.com
Dont post in the thread, DM mods so can say:
“There’s nothing we can do; (if legit request)

You’re off better, educating the would-be NPer, since mods’ reaction would not solve the prob.

DM the noob with the anemic budget.
FOLLOW THEIR RULES. (!!)
Any post in budget thread, is used against you.
Almost all posts deleted, if post budget thread.

Thank you, @johnn.

This has been an ongoing issue for years with people polluting the WTB section with unreasonable nonsense.

It is also a waste of time as people with quality domains tend to know the value. If they didn't, they are highly unlikely to still own quality domains.

Domains with clear resale value (LLL, CVCV, etc.) should really have to meet a minimum budget requirement.

The way NamePros has decided to do this really doesn't make sense.

Total Budget $10,000,000
Budget per domain $1 - $10,000,000.

It just means people put a high total budget to look more impressive, then lowball each domain.

If you think that's bad, you should know that the sellers who respond to wtb threads are even worse.

Most of the messages are for completely unrelated domains. If you look for 4L.com, you are going to get a lot of 4L.ins/orgs/nets/etc as well as 4c.com domains. And those are the good ones too.

Yeah, I posted many WTB threads in the past but have stopped. It doesn't matter how specific you are, you still get spammed with unrelated stuff.

You could say - "I am ONLY looking for LLLL.com" and get a response like "I have Haircare-Products.co. Are you interested?"

I don't follow the WTB section anymore but there was plenty of front-runners and scouts working for x persons / companies (bonus, reward & %).

Some people just post so they look cool but they don't really have the money.
Some members only deal with $XX names and post "Want to buy LLL.com".

Give me a break and don't waste other people time so you can look COOL!

Agreed, this does happen sometimes. We don't have a great solution for it yet.

Budget: $1-$20,000
The tug of war that takes place in sales is especially prevalent in the Buy Requests threads: buyers want to pay as little as possible, and sellers want to be paid as much as possible.

$1-$20,000 could mean many things, such as:
  • Looking to pay $1 but can pay up to $20000 if absolutely necessary.
  • The criteria of this request can fit domains that are worth $1 to $20000. (E.g., "a dictionary word .com," which can be worth $0 to millions of dollars.)
  • Will pay up to $20000 but going to try to get a good deal. (Expect to negotiate.)
  • Unrealistic budget that encompasses a realistic budget.
  • Flexible budget based on the buyer's affinity toward a domain name, not necessarily based on its value.
But these can be the case in any negotiation, so we prefer that buyers and sellers work it out with each other.

We hope that helps.

Yeah, it works both ways. If you say your budget is up to $20K every terrible domain is going to be priced at $20K.

I find myself loling whenever I see those WTB threads. Best thing to do is to ignore. At least, that's what I do with those unreasonable requests.

I am going to try posting a new WTB format, and see how it works.

LLL.org LLL.NET - Up to $500 Per Name
LLLL.com - Up to $500 Per Name

Just like you @johnn
what the hell this up to $500 mean? So you can low ball the sellers?

I don't really have any experience with .IO, but $500 for LLL.net, LLL.org, or LLLL.com is not unreasonable.

You can just look at NameBio and see how many sell in that range. Many sell for much lower.

Ok if not reasonable, how about $50? does the seller know that makes sense?
So there is still a gap for him to give it as low as possible. This is against the thread itself even though he did it

Up to $500 that means $1 - $500. he did it!

Up to $500 per name so you can buy 500 names per $1 for LLL.org, LLL.NET and LLLL.com

I do not low ball people. I bought 6 names from that thread for $xxx each.

give me a break. :)
