I think Epik is building the best ever Domain Lander in the history of domaining, and it really needs to be talked about extensively. That's why I am creating this discussion thread. A lot of thought process really goes into the project. And I can see (for the first time) a landing page that is built from the stand point of domainers rather than for just the marketplace itself.

Everything you have ever dreamt of getting or seeing in a professional landing page can be found in the new Epik marketplace landing page design.

Some of my Favorites Features:

1. The ability to optimize your "domain for sale" landing page to actually rank on Google, displaying your sales pitch/domain description. I just did that with few of my generic domain names such as ASAP.TV, targeting certain keywords, and they are showing pretty well on Google. That's a huge plus in my marketing effort.

2. Being able to change background image is another huge one for me. If you are good with pictures and images, you will surely find this very useful. I did that with Nagasaki.org and the result was truly amazing, showing the city of Nagasaki right at the background.

There are too many positive features and I don't want to mention all of them, all alone :xf.grin::xf.grin:

So I am leaving you guys to share and discuss what you loves most or dislike about the new Epik marketplace and the landing pages.

The only negative for me is the checkout process. There are too many terms and conditions buttons to tick before checking out. It will be nice if they can streamline those into one beautiful big button :xf.cool:

They also need to place the checkout button directly under the payment options. Right now it is awkwardly place somewhere below at the sidebar, which I don't find cool at all.

Sales experience is also welcomed in this discussion. I haven't had any sells so far at Epik because I started using the marketplace just recently, but the future is looking so bright.

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
To stop this NON-verified parade - I applied Minimum Offer for all my MakeOffer domains, $321 or higher.
Because too hard task for Epik to verify them.

My own ranking in terms of fake/troll volume, 1st is the worst:
1. Epik
2. DAN
3. Bodis/ParkingCrew
4. Sedo

I have a question about Epik backorders. Well, actually it applies to any backorder at any registrar. (Note: I'm not one of the lazy people who just ask and put in no effort... I have done extensive searches here and elsewhere but not found a definitive answer.)

For expiring domains registered at Epik, does an Epik backorder have "priority" over those at other registrars? That is, will the domain be held/caught at Epik before being dropped and available to others?

Of course this same question applies to any other registrar: do they hold/catch expiring domains for their own customers first before being released? I have heard that the current registrar effectively "keeps" the domain for themselves or their backorders but can't confirm.

Thanks.

No, it's put back in the pool for anyone to register on day 6. Once in pending delete, it cannot be recovered or renewed by the registrant or the registrar..

Thanks for that.

How about when it's in Redemption Period?

I'm looking at one which just went through the Daily Diamonds with no bids and the status just changed to Redemption Period afterwards. While in DD it was Active or ClientTransferProhibited status. It reached its official expiry about the end of May. So it went about 6 weeks after expiry (don't know what happened in the middle), got to DD and only then did it change to redemption status. I think I saw somewhere the expected drop date is early August, so that's now another 4 weeks approx.

In Redemption the domain can be restored by its losing registrant only... and with penalty up to $1xx.

And again lack of any email notifications...
Traditional issue, repeats again and again from time to time...

It works as of now.
But all email notifications were lost yesterday.

I test my domains periodically, and very often I see 10-20 seconds delays - and only then your parking lander loads...
What you do during this delay, you scan my PC or what???

Minor issue, but still... This is what the payment method badges look like on smartphones.

@Rob Monster Could you implement payment plans for the domains that are not registered at Epik?

Such plans are impossible - if they don't control your domains.
They must reside in Epik hands/escrow.

This is what happens when the web devs get too lazy and enabled the so-called "responsive design" instead of manually configuring the image parameters separately for each device type (desktop/tablet/mobile).

I did a little web building some time ago and the "responsive design" caused a horrible experience on mobile. Once I disabled it and did the manual work everything went back to normal.

I just disabled these badges for all my parked domains in a bulk.
Thanks.

@Rob Monster One more suggestion regarding landing pages. It would be great if you allow the opportunity to manually choose the multiple currencies which display depending on the country. E.g. I'd like only USD, EUR, GBP, and maybe a few more currencies to display on my landers, since in some countries the numbers are insane. In the screenshot, you can see the amount of $9 800 in UZS.

Usually it happens on my 1st attempt...
Next visits in the same browser and on the same day - it loads without this abnormal pause, immediately.
So like some scan process... at least for visitors from Ukraine.

I guess it is probably cached for you already when you check the second time around...

Maybe, but issue is in 1st attempt, such delays up to ~20s...
Most visitors will close this empty tab, where nothing happens.
So loss of sales and inquiries.

We do not do any scans to any visitors of anywhere. We also can't replicate the behavior you're describing. These were non-cached results of 2 domains parked @ Epik:
https://check-host.net/check-report/1e3f8b0kea1
https://check-host.net/check-report/1e3f979kad7

As you can see, it loads within one second on most locations, including 2 places in Ukraine.

We'll be happy to investigate further if you start a support ticket.

Thank you!

When parking, you have the option to force the default currency. See here:

Hope that helps.

Thanks for your report, I've verified this as well. I've alerted our design team to make the appropriate changes.

EDIT: This has now been changed. Could you please have a look and see how it looks like now?

Yes, today it works...
But yesterday was this delay, and it happens/repeats from time to time, like on Epik's black days.

+ fix this traditional issue with your mailserver.
It doesn't work on your black days as well, so we lose all notifications (including Marketplace offers).

Why purchase this domain with Epik?
Please translate it on your landers - this phrase is displayed in English regardless of language.

Now it's looking good. Thank you.

When parking, you have the option to force the default currency. See here:

Thanks, I know about that feature.
But there is the option to either choose 1 currency or all together. I've set USD as a default, but I'd like to have the opportunity to choose 3 currencies: USD, EUR, and GBP (depending on county).

I don't choose all the available currencies because if a buyer from, for example, Colombia or Pakistan sees the price as in my previous screenshot (the number can't even fit into the section), it will immediately scare him/her away. IMO

Please, either add the option to Manually choose Multiple currencies (I mean 2,3, and so on, not all together) or correct the design a bit, so the number can at least fit in the section.

Such visual issues are longplays on Epik for years, including their control panel, not just landers...
For example, set in Chromium - font size: 22, minimum font size: 13, and DejaVu Sans font as default.
And then recheck your panel on 23" 1080p 96dpi screen.
