NamePros member @DirkS has requested that I provide an explanation for why I've registered over 3,600 .online domains in the last six months, so here goes;

First and foremost I'm a visionary. I've started dozens of business in my life. I'm 73 years old, and I started my first business while still in college in 1970. Sure I could just be saying this, but if you have doubts I would strongly suggest that you check me out.

Having learned about this industry just over three years ago I've found the .com extension for most new business names to be both unavailable and unaffordable. I've learned that if I were to start a new business today it's unlikely the name I choose for my business would be available or affordable.

Most important, like zip codes and area codes there are literally hundreds/thousands of alternatives, and .Online just so happens to be one of the alternatives. What initially attracted me to the .Online extension was when NamesCon Online (aka NamesCon.com) made the decision to have Radix (aka Radix.online) be a sponsor. Radix then created the domain NamesCon.online to compliment/match NamesCon.com.

When I realized how the .online extension matched up with names like Reservations.online, Shopping.online, Learning.online and Domains.online, I just knew i was on to something:xf.smile: Note that names like Reservations.com, Shopping.com, Learning.com and Domains.com are not only "unavailable", even if they were available, they'd most likely be "unaffordable"

Ironically about the time I noticed the .online extension, Go Daddy and Radix partnered and made .online domains available for a first time annual registration fee of .99 cents, and an annual re-registration of just 49.99 thereafter.

I've spent over a thousand hours in the last six months buying mostly one and two word .online domains, so if you were to add my time to the approximate $4,200 I've paid Go Daddy, I have over $20,000 invested in my portfolio of 3,634 domains.

My critics will say things like, you'll never be able to afford to renew all your domains at 49.99 each to which I have a twofold answer; #1 i don't need to renew a single domain and #2 whose to say the renewal fee isn't negotiable:xf.rolleyes:....as a businessperson I've learned that pretty much everything is negotiable.

Of importance to me is the fact that "if" my .online domains were .com domains my portfolio would be "valued" at over twenty million dollars. Yes, that's $20,000,000 or 20M:xf.smile:

Now is where the rubber meets the road meaning, how do I plan to sell these domains? I just started listing them with the likes of Go Daddy where my current pricing ranges from a low of $199 to $999 and I'm looking to have an annual renewal of $99.....remember, everything is negotiable.

I plan to experiment with financing, leasing/renting and licensing my domains. I also plan to form a "users group" where end users actually have an interest in promoting the .online extension to the world.

Few domains and especially .online domains will sell themselves:xf.frown: Thus I plan on having an "outbound" sales/marketing team who share my vision to make .online both available and affordable.

Finally, I owe a bit of gratitude to the monopoly Verisign for confirming my suspicions about the nature of the .com beast. While the beast is slowly dying, alternative solutions are ready, willing and able to take over.

Thank you!

It was hard for me to accept at first but now I've been convinced that the future is online.

The future is .online.

I think you are not up-to-date with the current trends.

The present is online.

True, great points and examples.

In fact...

ThePastIs.online

Now, whoever controls these domains can control the past, the present, and the future.... online.

So if what you say is indeed correct, the person who registers all .online domains is actually in charge.

Then, is it actually wise to leave this to just 1 person?

Yes there is online banking, but 2 words .online is not worth more than the $0.99 that you paid for.
Because there is an abundance of available 2 Words domains in many extensions.
What makes a domain valuable is how rare the domain is.

If you asked me before starting investing in .online I would advice you to stick with 1 word .online domains only.

If you look at smart and sucessful nTLD investors you will find that they focus on one word domains and they do not stick only with one extension, they try to find combinations of word+extension that fit together like (green.energy, happy.life, luxury.estate... and so on).

I don't like to discuss a lot with someone who don't like to listen to advice.. so I will not comment anymore here and please do whatever you like.

The most Important advice to consider, if you are still on the fence, is what @bmugford just said:

Thanks for the tips punk:xf.wink: I really didn't know what you meant by blockchain domains scoring "the knockout blow", but after a little research i registered the following;

UnstoppableDomains.online
UnstoppableTeam.online and
UnstoppableTalent.com

With regards to the "high renewal fees" for .online. My renewal fee for .online is $29.99, and even that's negotiable. I really fell in love with the non keyword "unstoppable", and since I view myself as unstoppable, I felt the need to register the domain UnstoppableTalent.com because it was both available and affordable. If it wasn't available or affordable, i would have registered UnstoppableTalent.online. And since it's just a buck, I may skip lunch (save $10) and buy it anyway.

Thanks again punk:xf.smile:
I guess your research about the above-mentioned domains didn't discover that "Unstoppable domains" is an exact match for a trademark with the USPTO.

Thanks scithe....i haven't posted here for a while, but at last count i own 4,322 .ONLINE domains with my "out of pocket" cost being a little over $5,000.

"IF" the .online domains i own were .com's they'd be valued at over 25M dollars, yes that's twenty five million dollars. I put "IF" in quotes because a golfing buddy of mine is fond of using the expression, "If my aunt had balls she'd be my uncle" whenever I'd say "if" I'd just made that last put I'd have won my match(y)

I've now had enough personal experience with the likes of Go Daddy (Radix the Registry) where they sold me a domain for $1 (Reservations.Online) where I took possession of it (have a receipt for it) and they took/stole it back within 72 hours claiming they made a mistake. Now here's where it gets interesting....they actually tried to resell it back to me for $500,000:xf.wink:. I've met with a couple of lawyers, but since learned from them and my friend Rob Monster of Epik that the most I could probably get is 20K:xf.cry:. So while I may not be able to win a big judgment against them and Radix, I certainly can, and will use it when marketing .Online domains to potential end users. The one thing I can assure you is that I'm no more afraid of them than they are afraid of me, but their fu*k up is my my oyster:xf.grin:

Finally, i'll leave you with this quote from Andrew Allemann of the Domain Name Wire;

"you're foolish if you think there aren't opportunities in non-.com domains."

Does one private sale for $5,000 count?

Sure. Did you sell one, or just asking a theoretical question?

I would count a true sale as something you sell to someone that you don't already know.

Very true, but if you only ever sell things to people you know that is likely more of an MLM. :)

i know more people Brad than you'll ever know. To give you an example i've lived in my home here in Virginia Beach for over 45 years. I live on an Island (Bay Island) where I've been President of the Civic League (420 homes), active in politics, boating, Kiwanis and business having started owned and named over a dozen businesses since 1973.

Owning the domain BroadBayRealty in king and having formed an llc by that name, it's highly likely I'll sell my home to someone I know just because it's likely i may sell anyone of the .Online domains i own to local healthcare professionals (i was in the medical billing business for years). I own names similar to eCare.Online, Healthcare.Online and NurseCare.Online.

Brad....i happen to be a pretty creative guy and when the likes of Go Daddy steals from me a domain they sold me (Reservations.Online) for a buck, then turns around and attempts to sell it back to me for 500K, it SPEAKS VOLUMES of just how screwed up the domain industry truly is:ROFL:

Not only can i point to the likes of Go Daddy to prove how fu*ked this industry is, you would have thought i'd paid Verisign to blog how fu*cked up the secondary domain market is.

I'll leave you with this quote from Andrew Allemann of the Domain Name Wire;

"you're foolish if you think there aren't opportunities in non-.com domains."

Brad...this quote inspired me to hand reg the, the BiggerFoolTheory (it's actually available in both king and .Online), but I'll give you the opportunity to do so.:xf.smile:

HeyCoach.Online, did you ever hear the story about me and the Pope? Your post inspired me to reg ThePontiff.Online.....i haven't done it yet for I'd be accused of promoting my own domains:xf.frown: That said, with over 1.2 Billion Catholics in this world I'd highly recommend someone buy it, especially if you can get it for a buck:xf.smile:

One of your domainer friends has become Filthy Rich from selling domains with 'the' as a prefix. Not only those kinds of domains, but still. It was in the .com TLD. Not sure if you should copy his strategy into all the other online TLDs, but as long as you enjoy your creations and aren't looking to sell them, I hope you enjoy doing it. Am I saying it nicely this way?

"Filthy Rich" is relative, and if you're talking about names like "The" Whistleblower online or "The" Coach online the world is my oyster.

Any comments from you about the crooks at Go Daddy attempting to sell me Reservations.Online for 500K after stealing it from me because they could:xf.eek: If there's anyone who needs proof of this, i'll be happy to provide it(y)

I don't know about ThePontiff.Online but Pontificate.Online is available and I think a lot of us do that. I see it's available in .xyz too and I'm wondering if that's one that'd fetch a shockingly high xyz price.
