Hey y'all,
So first of all, I've been really enjoying being part of this community for a few months now, the whole domain industry became a hobby of mine and cannot thank you all enough for all the useful infos i have found here.

There's some things I haven't found answer here yet and it is the following:
GoDaddy auction site has loads of domains listed, that probably got dropped and is still listed and has bid(s), for example if you look up 24hr.doctor on gd auction site, you'll see it has a bid(s) but the domain itself is unregistered. So, it confuses me a bit. Ive found plenty other domains unregistered, with bids/offers. how is that possible?
Some of them has expired like 5-6-7years ago, but still listed. Or even if you look up sarahpalin.net you'll see the domain has a few bids or offers, but has been expired for a while now. So are these offers, that weren't accepted?

Also, another shorter question:
I cannot see any value for n0de.in, but if you look it up in namebio, you'll see it was sold last march for 2000dollars and already dropped too! How? Who would pay that much for that? What am imissing there? :D was it just a fake sale report?

Anyways, its just something ive been trying to figure out for a while now, if someone could give me an answer, I'd be more than delighted :)
Thanks in advance

Have a good day,
Tomasso

Hi Tomasso! The answer to your question may be found by looking up the domain name in question in the who.is or whois.com directories and then trying to buy them if you are so inclined. 24hr.doctor.com is not a name that is supported or a name that can be registered with a period. However, without the period it is a name that is registered and may be purchased in the re-sale market. As for n0de.in -- you'll see all kinds of oddities in domain name sales. Some are real sales. Others are fake. That's unfortunately just part of the business. All kinds of people are attracted to the domain business. Good luck with things!

Thanks Mike for the response, maybe the .doctor wasn't the best example, but how about sarahpalin.net? It has 3 offers on godaddy marketplace and its unregistered. Why godaddy doesnt delete those expired domains?

Why godaddy doesnt delete those expired domains?

Let me guess... so that you become the highest bidder, and then Godaddy or a domainer buys the domain for reg fee and sells to you at an immediate profit, perhaps several hundred or even thousand in some cases?

It's really not that hard to insert a few lines of code and check if a domain is registered, so IMO Godaddy is at least partially responsible. I believe the whole thing is fake - and the bids on it proves it (to me anyway). Not necessarily Godaddy doing it, maybe it's a shifty seller. ??? But good research on your part for checking it!

GoDaddy auction unregistered domains

Some people in industry have special accounts on Go Daddy and Afternic their expired domains not deleting from marketplace neither pending in review..

e. g. frankbdschilling Afternic account and others.

Sometimes people will post a domain name on an auction site and it may never reach its reserve or sell. The domain name can sometimes drop but the owner never updates the record on the auction site. It may not be what happened with these particular domain names.

The domain name 24hr.doctor was registered in 2016 and deleted from the zone file in 2021. It was on Uniregistry's sale site until it expired.

Impressed with the Tom Crean avatar.

Domains listed @ Afternic are auto-listed @ GD Auction
Registry premium domains (eg ngtld Donuts, etc) @ Afternic (offer/bid or bin, unregistered)

Afternic 24hr./doctor link

I also noticed with Snapnames' list of expiring or for deletion domain names, many of them are already deleted. Better check them at separate whois websites before clicking bid buttons.

Woww, thanks for the info, wouldn't it be GoDaddy's or any auction sites responsibility to monitor these txpe of listings? I ve gathered already like 20-30 domains that are listed on GD auction, has offers, but expired ages ago.

The man is a legend, especially since i was living very close to the brewery in Kerry, love his biography and also the beer named after him :)

Also Sedo has a good few and ive seen a couple on squadhelp or one of them branding sites. Double checking whois might save us from headache
