Which names will help you do that in your opinion?

Well I'm talking about the whole XR headset market exploding when Apple gets in the game. I might not have any million dollar domains, but I have a solid collection in all categories, including some of the best adult names. I know they will make me money over the next decade or so!

You are not making that judgement from the lander are you ?
I think that lander is a generic park with no content. Even though it says expired auction.
Well, if it was a drop, that might be the largest auction of a drop I have ever seen.
Normally, anyone that interested finds a way to contact the previous owner and makes a very nice direct offer and pay the fees.
Correct. I was watching it at godaddy. I’m 99% sure it was an expired auction and not a public auction

Wow. As I said, I never seen that big of a drop. Perhaps about 12 years ago?
I wonder if it were the folks at holos.io. Better if it's a new player.
More important that we are seeing some pretty good bets lately even if it would be investor speculation.

Well it looks like there will be no announcement of the headset at this conference.

The 'supply chain analyst' who predicted that they may announce it here still maintains that the headset will be released in Q2 next year. He also claims that Facebook will sell 18-20 million VR headsets in 2022. The new Playstation VR will be released next year, and if the Apple VR/AR headset comes out as well, what a year it will be for virtual reality!

Well, I could see that they were setting the stage for future mixed reality development with apps and new interactions. And I can fully understand delays in manufacturing, and to some extent, apple is in no hurry, as the extra time allows for more opening polish and initial app library on first release. It's not like what they do has any exact competition...YET. Facebook is working towards a MR unit. I still contend most apps will be VR because that is where the dev has been up to this point and you have a library of VR video out there for any HMD.

But I still have this feeling they are quietly putting this in the hands of some devs for those initial apps.
Easy to see now the true start of this. The ball is rolling.
So think of it this way...
We are a long way from a saturation level that will mark the down side. It's all up from here.
That is the next thing you will have to judge.

2021 VR/AR Association Global Summit: Metaverse, Convergence, and Adoption

The VR/AR Global Summit’s more robust conversations on the metaverse also tended to involve “the convergence” of XR with other emerging technologies, usually blockchain.

“With blockchain, you can claim the ownership of not just digital items, but digital land,” said Wang, who also commented on the ability of blockchain and edge computing to allow decentralized management of vast amounts of spatial data. “With the popularity of the creator economy, there are more and more players being incentivized to become creators.”

I’m still certain that the Keyword ‘Cryptoassets’ has the most potential in the VR/AR/XR niche.

9 Megatrends Shaping the Metaverse

“The emergence of blockchain computing may replace some aspects of cloud computing; and the rise of non-fungible assets may become the basis of virtual goods in an emerging generation of games, avatar customizations and metaverse experiences.

This is just the beginning of the possibilities when you unleash assets, data and programmable contracts into the open Internet.”

What iOS 15 Can Tell Us About Apple's Planned VR and AR Headsets
https://www.bloomberg.com/news/news...ew-ios-15-tech-could-have-ar-and-vr-functions

Interesting !

Side note of my latest reg... holodeck.club

And one other thing to note...
Looking at the latest chart from DNJ,
Take a good look at those...
If I were to tell you 10 years ago that half of those had any value, I would be laughed at by most experienced folks. I know as I can say I was one laughing. 10 years is a long time and name supply is always getting shorter to match a need or want well. That despite all the gTLD's. Now that I have said all of that, that current list is still making me wonder where the quality is or how bad options have got.

Well, we all knew this was coming. Hits the news about twice a year. And of course I have no issue with it.
And initially, I don't expect any hanky-panky. Just some simple biofeedback on it. No profiling.

But as soon as everyone gets comfortable with it all, I can see them sneaking sensor data in to that monetary stream. I mean to say that they did not spend years and billions on that for nothing. But without a history made profile, it is not accurate, so it is inevitable they are going there.
So, the question then becomes how much of a set-back for VR in general after a major incident about this data. And moreover, profiling.

I agree. But it is a interesting road as we get there.
Everything you think about it normally ends up different at delivery.
They will adjust and make it work.
The big deal is hitting a target audience, so your spending goes further. Not wasted.

I would have thought, at least as far as games go, that a virtual billboard somewhere in the game is probably pretty effective.

In any case as that article points out, many would be advertisers can not hit their mark with this method.
There will be others and changes to the technique.
But it's just not effective unless they do the profiling and response que's from the eye tracking stuff.
That is what the advertisers want to know. How effective is the message. Certain folks respond differently than others.
And that is where the privacy concerns sit.
But if FB isn't making it work, don't think many others stand a chance.
