What a horrible Sedo.com domain transaction

Hi , I’m selling at sedo.com for over 20 years domains and dozens of times without a hitch.

not lately …I not only have a large amount of fake bidders but also the transfer agent runs wild and has no idea what she is doing .

on the 18 of June she asks me ( 9 days and no payment made by the buyer ) if I want to cancel the sale …I reply with minutes with a big yes .

an hour later the System all of a sudden says that the buyer says he made the payment … 2 days later it shows an new message that the buyer still has not paid .

today a new message saying sedo got the payment but wait until verified before transfer ….my transfer agent writes ..it can take several days to verify the payment , BUT IF I WANTED I CAN ALREADY SUBMIT THE DOMAIN .

WTF … I’m selling on sedo for well over 20 years and nothing about this makes sense … first of sedo always tells you to not to transfer until sedo tells you after the funds are verified .
Secondly ..why on earth would it take days or even weeks to verify a payment when sedo already has the WIRED payment ??

what in the world id going on . I also send an email on Friday to sedo support and no response !

what a crappy place and what an arrogance to treat your customers !

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
Maybe the wire was a fraudulent one, so their bank will have to reverse the wire.

It's a rare thing, but possible.

But why would the transfer agent say to transfer the domain anyway ? It makes no sense !

i always call, rather than emailing, if there is an issue.
they respond a lot quicker.

It's a bug in the system. Same thing happened to me in January. For eleven days, I was reading mutually exclusive messages and instructions (see screenshots). I had to delete the domain, change the nameservers to my private marketplace. Sold it later.

You can't be too sure with some third-party marketplaces. Even afternic may prove unreliable. Even if you use their nameservers, your domain may still land nowhere, unless the potential buyer types in naked domain name. Once he adds internet protocol(s), then he lands nowhere.
As a the time of this post, for example,

menthol.xyz - lands properly on gd or afternic
https://menthol.xyz - lands nowhere
https://www.menthol.xyz - lands nowhere

(methol/xyz uses afternic nameservers n5/n6)

So best option is to have your own marketplace, negotiate terms and use escrow services, including DAN or same Sedo. With amount less than $500, I use paypal - no issues so far.

I was not writing about sedo. I was referring to afternic. Try with the domain I mentioned, maybe the problem is with my browsers, which I doubt.

-Hi

currently, i don't have any names pointed to afternic, so that may a unique situation with their platform

perhaps contact @Joe Styler to get that resolved.

maybe i'll change ns for a name listed there and see if same thing happens

imo....

(Not related to Sedo, but I'd like to respond to this.)

I can assure you that it's not an issue with your browser. Afternic has been made aware of the fact that they do not implement TLS (https) all the way, and @Joe Styler instructed his team to come up with a solution.

In the meantime @Deven Patel of the Alter.com brandable marketplace was made aware of a similar TLS issue a couple of weeks ago, and TLS at Alter is now working all the way.

Dan.com is still working to fix things for months.

Hi @wolfis.com ,
I'm so sorry to hear of the recent disappointing experience you have had with this sale transaction.

Has the payment still not been received?

If not, I may inquire some details from you and then can look into this personally and provide you with more information? Can you private message me the domain in question here and also your Sedo customer account login name or email associated with your account?

Thank you in advance,
Sedo
