He probably could get groomers for that much. Overpaid for sure.

I agree.

Having watched the complete video, I think that buyer is a great guy and entrepreneur. I heard him say that he didn't use his usual negotiation tactics for acquiring this domain, because the seller is a well-known domainer. That's why my personal conclusion is that the seller profited (a lot) from being a well-known domainer. Buyer paid a premium (just) for doing business with a well-known domainer.

Congratulations to both of you, you're both pros.

Buyer mentions in his video the opportunity costs. For the same amount of $104K he could have bought a combination of other domains and have better business opportunities. He kind of regrets/doubts this acquisition already, but he isn't completely sure. His aunt is a dog groomer, too.

I wish the buyer lots of success (re)developing this beast into a flourishing business.

I don't think the buyer has overpaid for it. He has done a good homework before buying it for that price and most importantly this domain was developed earlier and has a good number of backlinks and 20 domain authority.
Good Luck to the buyer!

If someone is an expert in the directory business this is a perfect name and underpaid, if not they overpaid.

EMD's (only the best in a category) are worth millions for the right marketing group and worthless for the wrong.

Most of the top two and three word domain sales in history were EMD's and that will continue to be the case.

He'll get his money back

Use a tool like https://archivarix.com/en to get the old site back, spruce it up, get the traffic flowing, add a directory, do some outbound to companies to list and get the monthly fees & commissions rolling in....and voila.....

He will be fine......

Oh sure, he will. But buyer is mentioning the opportunity costs himself, in his video. He could have done better domain investments with the same amount, giving him higher results, he says. It's fair to think that way as an investor with 8 people working for him.

What does he want....People to get out the violin and play him a little tune?......He's bought it, he's got to make it work and learn from it.......next time he can go and buy 8 domains......maybe

Should of done the thinking before buying it.....the benefit of hindsight, as usual.......

Let just congratulate the buyer and the seller. There is no need to do a complete analysis. It’s a done deal.

Johnn, buyer asks for comments on this deal himself in the video.

I know. Just congratulate him to make him happy. No one know the actual price of a name anyhow.

Well, we've already congratulated both parties. This forum is a great resource to talk about acquisitions like this, and learn from / educate each other. It would be a dull forum without.

Your postings for newbies educate as well, and that's appreciated. This is a deal in practice. Unsubscribe from this thread if you don't like us to discuss further.

So I do think that there are alternatives (since it's about development anyway), available for reg fee...

Maybe not as good but reg fee.

areagroomers com
opengroomers com
groomersnearby com
groomersnear com
alldoggroomers com
idoggroomers com
edoggroomers com
dawggrooming com
gotgroom com
walkingrooming com
wegroomers com

and so on...many available to hand reg for development.

Personally, I probably would have not made the deal at that price.

Thanks @Silentptnr

The dominant market leader in this field (I think) does a good job even without having an EMD.

This global website pops up in my SERPs for dog grooming, with my City name (in NL) in the title. Well done.

https://www.petbacker.com/

and also with local ccTLDs per country, e.g.

https://www.petbacker.nl/

Nice transaction. Now, estibot suggested 'value' is $3,700, and godaddy was just shy of $6k. I think two takeaways from this transaction should be to never base value on automated services, use your experience, and to understand the true value of the niche and type of domain you are selling.

I agree, but you need a dose of luck because you need to meet the Special One end user for such sales.

for a fraction of the price he could have picked up a 80 DR 80 DA domain with better backlinks i don't think seo was a motive in anyway shape or form

g r o o o m e r . c o m

$6.99 hand reg.

Thinking of a logo. Maybe a dog face using the 3 o's. :)

Outside some lead generation directory, I can't imagine this price being justified to one specific end user in this field.

Weird purchase, as the buyer definitely overpaid if he's looking to market and resell this as a pure domain name, and conversely, if the buyer has a clear business plan to attract Dog Groomers to a paid online service, there are a lot of less-expensive alternatives (with significantly greater ROI) that I would have explored first.

But hey, it's not my money and I wish him well in his future endeavors.
