It says on the homepage this forum has 1,046,012 members. A MILLION MEMBERS. That's the number following 999999. Is it a typo or what? I thought domainers operate under the radar on planet Earth and in stealth mode from the other humans.

Business forums don't generally have a million members.

Hi

that number, is all-time member registration, since 2003.
and that's 18 years ago.

but there may only be a few hundred signed-in on a given day.

imo...

They glide amongst us...don't forget the Bots...there's usually 300/400 signed in on most days. They are the ones selling all the domains LOL...be careful what you say though as they listen in then write great Blogs about us....I'm sure BoB is one of them...one of them...one of them...one of them

Hello,

It’s the number of registrations since 2003. Active members is a different number and only partially represented by the “Online Now” stats.

Here is an explanation from a moderator in 2018:

Online “members” are logged-in visitors at the time you check (we consider them online at that moment).
  • In a 24 hour period, that number is in the thousands.
  • In a month, there are many tens of thousands of members that login to NamePros, but some members only login once a day, once a week, etc.
Online “people” are real people online on the site at that very moment (not robots). They may or may not be logged-in to an account.
  • Keep in mind that everyone is not online at the same time: the ~1000 people that are online right now will not be the same ~1000 people that will be online in an hour from now.
Online “guests” are a combination of logged-out members, people from search engines, direct navigation visitors, etc.
  • Google Analytics indicates that more than half of all guests on NamePros are members but they are logged out.
  • Members do not stay logged in indefinitely (e.g., sessions expire and sometimes they don’t login again right away).
  • Some members logout manually and only login when they want to post.
Online “robots” are search engine crawlers, uptime monitors, unexpected error detection systems, etc.

We hope that helps.

Let’s see if we can grow it to a billion! The whole number following 999999999. B-)

That won’t be easy because we’ve recently made the registration process very difficult for a bot to complete, but it still sounds like a fun goal to reach hundreds of millions of registered people and businesses (not bots).
