sales Candyfloss.com sells for $7,200 USD – An absolute bargain imo

The domain name Candyfloss.com sold yesterday on GoDaddy.com for $7,200 USD, The domain was registered in 2003 and recently expired and has been auctioned on the GoDaddy platform via its partnership with TuCows.

The domain name was once owned by Frank Schilling's company Name Administration Inc, and then between Sept 2018 and March 2019, it would appear the domain name was acquired and remained under privacy protection at TuCows.

The company that acquired the domain name set up a store on Shopify in 2019, however, it looks based on their social media Instagram account where they also had the handle @Candyfloss that it didn't continue trading for long after the launch with no interactions for over a year.

I think this is a Mid Five figure sale all day long to an end-user, its a great brandable and was being used for a clothing store in this example, here is the screengrab below from Archive.

Great name and great bargain, I guess it might be a side effect of GoDaddy trying hard to squeeze domain investors in the expired auctions process, personally I stopped attending some months ago.

I have never heard the term "Candy Floss" either. It is always pretty much always called "Cotton Candy" in the US.

However, just because you have not heard of something does not mean it is not worth it. That is personal incredulity.

While Cotton Candy would be far superior as a keyword and brand, the term "candy floss" is taken in almost 140 com/net/org/biz/us/info with the words together and taken as an exact match in many extensions.

It clearly has some solid value.

I don't think this could be sold to a 'Candy Floss' store on Blackpool seafront for a lot of money because quite simply these people don't have a lot of money and don't really need a domain.

But i think its a good memorable brand for something non-candy floss related, i remember a guy on here having a domain called 'Fish Stick' and people here at the time thought that was a good brand (we call them 'fish fingers' in the UK), maybe it's because I'm from the UK and familar with the term but see this as a better brand ('fish' can be a negative word as far as branding goes), for example 'Candy Floss' can be a good memorable brand for a magazine or a company selling beauty products and make-up or maybe even a future pop group?
