There has been subtle talk about NamePros transitioning into a more dedicated marketplace, rather than a message board.

For those who don't know, Flippa started out as the SitePoint message board, where people would buy and sell domain names, among other things. Then around 2009 they launched Flippa.

It's my belief that NamePros will be doing something similar soon.

Since this is a community driven website, I think it's only fair for NamePros to be more open with the community about this and offer more details.

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
There's something big coming April 01 judging by the new green countdown timer.

I don't want to speculate, so fingers crossed :)

I think that's just an April Fools thing. But I do think a new marketplace is coming soon though

The development team is currently focusing on a lot of community-based improvements (e.g., upgrading the forum software and adding community-based moderation), which will also include improvements to the forums' marketplace.

Whether a separate marketplace solution will be released (a couple of them were developed) is probably going to depend on how far they decide to take development of the forums' marketplace.

It seems like the original plan was a separate marketplace, but now the plan is leaning toward an integrated solution with the forums (i.e., improvements to the existing forums' marketplace that make them comparable to other dedicated marketplaces).

Plans change. Things evolve. But you know what we know.

One thing that remains constant is we're all working hard to provide value to the community. :)

Hi

i was sitepoint member, but never used flippo

the name sucked and any association of it with NP, is degrading

however....
the idea of a legitimate "in-house" marketplace, that handles payments and transfers,
could escalate this space
to a place, they never been before.

imo....

Flippa layout sucks. I have a 32" monitor and the homepage only shows one product upon load before I have to scroll. 90% of the homepage is just negative/white space and there are a measly 15 domains displayed halfway down the page. The text of those domains probably makes up .000001% of the homepage real estate. So no, don't be like Flippa.

Flippa is the worst

Exactly. A huge part is the NASTY customer service. Arrogance and attitude that the customer is a always wrong was very offputing.

Preach preach! Hear, hear!

It’s too bad they have ZERO Np support.
Would love to hear their reply here.
