Renewals have been $10.58 for quite a while, though you have to use the promo code COUPONFCNC

No comparison here. Namecheap are really great. And they don't make it hard to transfer names.

Not sure if I plan to renew my names there, but the support conveyed this to me a couple months ago:

Agreed. Their pricing has gone up a bit over the years but they're one of the few left among the well known registrars that offer good promos, regularly.

And yes, if you hold a bigger portfolio they will give you better pricing.

Not too happy with their panel for bulk editing but overall they're affordable, easy to work with and secure.

well they charged me 13+ on a auto renewal , then told me tough luck,

I also have well over 100 domains with them.
