.io is on a tear. Most reported sales are in the xx,xxx and xxx, xxx. Just a matter of time before a million dollar sale is reported. I have 120 one word or two keyword combos. What are your thoughts on where .io is going?

Thanks for the info, visiting the site it says "Avatar - The interface of the Metaverse" so can link this to another 'Metaverse' sale.

Yes, anytime we see sales like this it automatically positions the extension as the next dot-com. :/

I think the extension is one of the stronger ccTLDs. Works well with short names that can be used for tech brand startups, but I don't foresee it becoming a mainstream choice. Good luck with yours.

All recent reported high value .io sales are made by one person. It only qualifies the person, who (besides having some of the best names) probably has a vast network of connections which led to those sales, but not the extension itself.

Its not the extension per say. Its single dictionary words that are unobtainable for whatever reason in dot com. (In use or price) As with all other extensions, its a nice consolation prize as only one entiry can own the com.

If their business takes off and its financially feasible , they often come back for the king down the road.

I am hopeful about .ios
I have small portfolio of about 40 names that are all paid for with 3 sales since November.
I will ramp up as I make more sales. It is just that the wholesale price is so high, but then sales velocity is also decent

.io is the next best thing to .com, no doubt about that. I’m asking 5 figures minimum for my one word .io and well beyond for a few.

Or just another fake.

That’s completely false. All the recent sales were not sold by one person.

Rabbit, Avatar etc. - all are from Mike (Park.io owner).

There have been several sales over $20k recently that don’t involve park.io or sedo.

if the crypto world is full of .io projects that make millions of dollars and if the crypto world is the present and the future it means that .io has an extraordinary future ahead of it. Forget the domain names sold, here we are talking about millionaire projects in .io...

Nothing is the next .com.

I am old enough to remember when some people flogging new extensions called .com everything from "dead" to "am radio", now years later everyone still wants to be .com.

Definitely, $20K+ sales in .com happen ~daily.

Sure. But one word .com used to sell for 5 figs and still do on occasion.

The real question is, can .io reach a normality where 5-6 figure sales are the expectation for the best names? I say yes.

Because .com is in demand by real sector.

What do you consider real?

As already pointed out, many crypto companies opt for .io. Is billions of dollars in value real to you? That’s where we are at with the entities that are using .io...
