I am following up on a suggestion to do an analysis on tree and plant/flower terms in brandable domain names, similar to the analysis I did of animal names in brandable names.

To get started, I need a list of terms people think are valuable, and I will look at the sales record, listings on brandable marketplaces and use in some famous existing brands.

Please help me choose what terms to study. I am planning to split it into two parts, one on only trees, and one on flowers and other plants.

e.g. Trees
  • evergreen
  • maple
  • oak
Flowers/Plants
  • rose
  • lily
  • violet
Can you please post what terms you think should be added to my analysis. Thank you!

Can someone please tell me if we are looking for brand able lol domains?
I am planning to do an analysis of domain sales, listings on brandable marketplaces and use in company names of trees/flowers/plants.

For that, to make sure I have a comprehensive list of the most important ones, asking for suggestions of trees/flower/etc. names that are good for company brands.

As with most NamePros threads, yes this one has done a bit of winding around :xf.rolleyes:, but lots of interesting things learned.

Hope this explanation helps.

Bob

root (if parts are considered)
avocado
carrot
nuts
kiwi (fruit)
sandal(wood)

Rarely used
beet (beetroot)
wheat
oats
hibiscus
Spinach
chilly

I think ,this exercise is going to be tougher than that of animal domains because in many domains these terms are used in the literal sense.

for branding it's regional.
Dogwood/Pine : American South
Spruce : American North/Canada
Birch : Baltic
Cedar : Lebanon
Palm : coast/tropics // SC
...
don't overlook the pagans (esp Slavic)

1. Olive has a good vive.
2. Orchid is exotic.
3. Daisy sounds bold.
4. Daffodil is longer, but stronger.
5. Acacia has rhythm.

I'll stop there.
All the best wishes to your research.

If you are talking about a brandable domain name, none of them. If it is brandable, then it is not a real word.

Hiya Bob,

I would keep 'Oak' as one as Oak is an expensive wood, so would give a high perceived value!.

I think @Bob is looking for actual developed companies with the use of these words in them ?
and not just suggestions of keywords themselves. Am I correct Bob ?

You want single keyword ideas ? or actual Domains for sale or developed with theses words in them ?

Your following 2 paragraphs kind of suggest two motivations.

"I am planning to do an analysis of domain sales, listings on brandable marketplaces and use in company names of trees/flowers/plants."

"For that, to make sure I have a comprehensive list of the most important ones, asking for suggestions of trees/flower/etc. names that are good for company brands."

I picked up oakgazebo (com) a while back. I missed out on sandwichtree(com). Lavender is a good one. I see cherry a LOT and of course apple.

Less-common greens can make good brands, like Purslane.com (already a catering brand), or mesclun or arugula.

I sold Mayapple.com this past weekend to somebody who posted on the Domains Wanted forum. Mayapple is a beautiful plant that bears one edible fruit that has medicinal properties. I've seen the plant growing wild on my brother-in-law's farm outside of Syracuse NY.

There's a golf course that uses the name and a baby company too.

I'm surprised amaranth hasn't been mentioned yet.

Any common herb, your favorite berry pie, favorite houseplants often make good brands.

Sorry for delay in responding. I will do the analysis to search for sales, existing companies using the names, brandable marketplace listings. So just looking for suggestions. However, I think some of the suggestions are perhaps too rare - yes a single word in almost any may well sell, but that doesn't mean that word is a common part of numerous brands.

Thanks to all who have submitted.

I am working on the trees first. Here is the list I have decided to use. I had a few others, some involving trees or parts of trees more related to use such as seeds, tea, pepper, etc. but it proved too difficult to separate the tree related brand names out. I also had some more exotic suggested trees, but if they had 0 or 1 listed sale, I excluded them. A few others, like cactus, I like but decided to not include with trees. The line between canes, bushes, shrubs and trees is not clear, of course.

Thank you so much to all who suggested names!

Apple

Aspen

Bamboo

Banana

Banyan

Birch

Cedar

Cherry

Cinnamon

Citrus

Coconut

Cypress

Ebony

Elm

Evergreen

Fig

Fir

Fruit

Hedge

Leaf

Lemon

Lilac

Lime

Lotus

Mango

Maple

Oak

Olive

Orange

Palm

Pear

Pine

Pineapple

Raspberry

Rose

Rosewood

Shrub

Spearmint

Spruce

Tree

Willow

I will not be starting the flower and plant ones for a few weeks, so feel free to continue to suggest additional names in the flower/plant category.

@Bob Hawkes

Hey Bob - not sure if these have been mentioned, but I have sold names with Ginger & Orchid in them (2 word names).

Both "plants" so thought you may want to consider for your list.

Good Luck!

Ideas of NAMES OF PLANTS that are well suited to be used within a brand. We are not looking for people to post brandable names they have available. Hope that clarifies.

I have just done the flowers analysis, will be posted later today or tomorrow, so no longer looking for tree or flower suggestions. There will be a final article in series covering nonflowering plants and others not covered in the earlier suggestions.

Thanks to all who have provided so many great suggestions, and to @BradWilson for compiling the list.

Thanks for suggestions. Orchid is on the flower list I am about to post today or tomorrow.

I have kept ginger as one of the names that may make my final list of worthwhile plant names not covered in the analyses on trees and flowers.

Congratulations on your sales!

Bob
