One more comment, apologies for this, but it is VERY IMPORTANT:

1) Don't ever, ever be in love with any of your names.

2) Be aware of FOMO - plagues an domain investor.

3) Buyer always has a different number in mind than us, sellers. It's up to you how you position against that.

4) Everything is (and should be) for sale. Don't be a collector. Collectors are perhaps proud of their collections, but financially broken.

Posted this cause I see it such things often around here.

Perfectly explained. Thanks!

Edit: I have thousands of other names to renew for many years. And I usually buy at least 10 names per day, many similar to this one, sometimes much more. 5-fig investment going into 6 fig next, but inventory has its limits. I always find more names than I can buy. I prefer to sell 5 names at $199 today, rather than waiting months to sell one of those names at $1999 - because the math checks out.

Out of the pack I often select some that will be sold now for cashflow usually below $500. Overall this balanced approach provides best results at least for myself - both shot term and long term. Even if I sell 5 at $199 per day it's still balanced. I have a lot of volume so it's worth it. For those who find difficult to buy such names, the other approach of pricing full retail and holding all names for years makes more sense, but not in my case.

Those who have seen my clearances as well know that I clear hundreds of .coms each month - these are only those that won't be renewed. Edit: I usually end up selling the lot in bulk, so these names still have lifetime - but I know that; and it's okay with me. Again, volume makes the difference.
do you have/sell only 2-word and only .com domains? tnx

Hi, I always follow your posts and sale reports, and tips-Thanks for them..
I have a few qs:

1) What is the average sale %age of your domains priced below $500

2) What factors you consider while registering domains-Do you always prefer to buy dropped ones? Do you consider the backlinks, DA, No. of searches and PPC for those keyword as a factor too?

I'm doing a lot analysis on domains sold versus not sold and I couldn't see a clear diff. re why some sell so well and some don't sell at all-I mean going by age, Backlinks, Search volume and ppc of those kws I can't make out any patterns-Only thing I can see is the obvious ones like shorter names and .coms sell much better which is a no brainer.

Any insights would be highly appreciated!

Thanks

Domain sold without price is of no use. Do not post in this thread if you don't want to share the price. That's the rule of the thread.

Hit my first 4 figure :xf.grin: -

Sold for Bright//Data.co $2500

So, this was an interesting one - I see an opportunity to sell Bright//Data.co to a company. This domain was listed on DAN for €499. I first confirmed with the buyer if they're interested in buying this and asked for $3k. They showed interest and the deal was settled for $2500. Then I approached the domain seller and offered him the lowest €100 which he accepted after a counter. Took me ~17 days to close the deal due to some hiccups in the transfer.

Domain name: Bright//Data.co
Purchase Price: €100 (~$120) registered on 25th March, sold on 11th April 2021
Sales Price: $2500
Sale venue: Direct
Sale Type: Outbound
Time took: 17 days

More sales from March/April:

Domain name: 3iap//com
Purchase Price: $7.28 hand-reg on 8th April, sold on 12th April 2021
Sales Price: $500
Sale venue: DAN
Sale Type: Outbound
Time took: 4 days

All hand-reg and sold within a few weeks.
Sale venue: DAN
Sale Type: Outbound
There're some direct sales as well which are not included here.

My next target is to hit 5 figure within a month. :)

Could you share your portfolio size?

Well, my portfolio is small as my approach is a bit different. I don't hold domains and wait for the buyers for months. My current portfolio contains around 250 domains, but around 200 of them are just waste as I added them while experimenting with some methods when I started with domaining around 6 months ago.

You outbounded someone elses domain?

Well, I wanted to buy the domain first, but to minimize the risk, I first confirmed the lead then purchased the domain.
