Is there good demand for .io tld? Is it mostly used for tech and AI purposes?

And brandable name work good with .io like for example related to "deals" OR strictly for tech types?

Please help on this. I am stuck on deciding.

Can a generic domain related with for examples "deals" will be in demand with .io tld ?

Afaik, only tech companies opt for .io domain names.

Generic names like shop.io, deals.io, buy.io, sell.io which comes under e-com and definitely add valuable as they're one word names.

I wouldn't go for 2 words names until It really makes sense to me. I got DigitalPainting.io and the reason to register the name is the ongoing trend.

I'm not an expert of .io - these are just my views.

Ah yeah, right

Since 2014, only 30 have sold for over $10,000

Also, it's a ccTLD so the jurisdiction in that region might be appealing to specific startups.

I feel sorry for the residents. Be a tough break scoring a decent business name that ranks in search.

This is nonsense.
A lot more than 30 .io domains sold for 10K+. So many more that it makes me wonder if you're just trolling.
Even the incomplete and outdated list on https://no1.io/top-100-dot-io-domains-sales-vs-premium-io-domain-names-selling-price/ shows far more than 30.
Literally hundreds, if not thousands of .io sales surpassed the $10K mark over the past 7 years.

Best io names are in crypto, NFTs. Check out Metaverse.io - six figures.

https://namebio.com/metaverse.io

Also, there were 100 reported minimum 5-figure .io sales on Namebio within the last five years.

Cool.
Interesting take on IO by Mercedes-Benz as well:
IO stands for input/output. We translate input from our customers into outputs of digital experiences such as the Mercedes-Benz worldwide website, its eCommerce platform as well as off-car digital services.

Many companies employ software engineers, including those whose primary business is not directly related to tech.
These engineers are often the people who introduce the idea of acquiring .IO domains for the company.
It then trickles through the departments and everyone becomes somewhat aware of the extension.

My former employer also acquired several .IO domains because the senior devs thought it was a good idea.
Management and sales team never heard of the extension, but now they're all familiar with it.
As far as I can tell, this whole trend started around 2016/17.

You are right. These are all fake sales.

People should stop investing in .ios and Leave them alone
