Accept or counter?

It has sold before for a higher amount ($5,688) and one I have held onto for a few years.

I was thinking $1,500?

Too low. Yeah, indeed. as per GoDaddy appraisal tool, ("Comparable domains sold" section) this exact domain was once sold for $5,688. Why sell for $1200 today? The same appraisal tool gives Estimated Value: $1,568 for it though, so sending the buyer to this tool makes no sense. You may try to generate a list of comparable domainsales from various sources and send it to the buyer, with sales in low-mid 4 figures range. Asking $4999 and accepting ~$3K - $4K may work - imo. The last but not the least, what you paid for the domain and what is you pricing formula - it is what matters...

Autos is not Auto. In the current market, I believe $1200 is still a reasonable offer for this one. Side note I have quite a bunch of "all about something". Might be worth significantly more if you hold on to it for a few more years.

But you can obviously counter that as you intend to, and see what happens.

Note: Quoting GD appraisals actually tells you're not really in this game

You should be able to repeat same old selling price in my honest opinion. A quick check shows ,allabout-autos. com ,allaboutautos. net and even allaboutautos. co.

Offer installment payment 🙂 .Don't sell too cheap but, the ball is in your court .
Goodluck 👍.
