Hi All,

I'm fairly new to Domaining but have been doing a lot of reading (mainly on here) the last few months and have decided to finally jump in and try this out.

I've decided to start with Geo+Service.com domains as they seem to be the most 'beginner friendly.

Anyway, I thought up a strategy which I'll detail below.

The Goal: Buy 10 Hand Reg Geo+Service Domains and try to double my initial investment of $85. I know a lot of people on here say not to worry about hand reg domains as they all suck but I think you can still pick up some good ones if you're creative!

My Thoughts: If I can just sell one out of the 10 domains for $170 (after fees) then I would have doubled my investment of $85

My Requirements: Domains must be .COM, the locations have to be one of the top 500 populated cities in the US, all domains have to be hand reg, the services have to be ranked highly on NameBio, the domains I choose have decent Google search traffic and CPC, I have to be able to create a list of outbound leads before I purchase each domain.

Okay, so here are the domains I picked up: (feel free to tell me how I did but remember I'm still a beginner)

AlamedaLawyers.com
ArlingtonHeightsProperty.com
BoiseCityDentist.com
MiamiBeachConstruction.com
MissouriCityHouses.com
NorthCharlestonAuto.com
PalmBayBuilders.com
PawtucketRentals.com
RedwoodCityCars.com
GastoniaApartments.com (it's a double clinger but I got it anyway!)

I currently have them listed on AfterNic, Epik, Sedo (still pending) and FreeMarket (still pending). Got them up for $500 with $200 offer.

I'm also thinking about making listings on Craig's List in the City/Service letting people know I have the domain for sale. Has anyone done this before? Is it worth the time?

I plan on doing some outbound sales emails later next week.

I'll update this thread with any success or failures I have!

Until then,

Happy Domaining!

Auto dealerships will not spend money on a domain unless it's category leader... like cars.com. Their budget is spent on location and advertising and they are very good at measuring conversion rates.

Unless you can prove a domain will generate type-in traffic that converts to sales, you've wasted your money.

I think you are off to a good start, I have invested and done well for many years on GEO domain names, Most of the names have some liquid value to other domainers even if you are looking for a quick flip.

Good Luck in your domaining endeavors, I have shared this post over on my blog for you, so hopefully, a few others might chime in and offer some support.

Thanks for the advice. I tried to choose a few different niches so I could get more experience with different areas and services.

Worst case I don’t sell any and see it as a learning experience but in saying that there are businesses in RedwoodCity using domains like RedWoodCityAutoSales.com, personally I think my domain is better just a matter of selling that idea!

I’ll see how I go!

I agree you domain is better but dealers will balk at paying for a better name so be prepared to convince the manager.

I've had some luck setting up websites for individual sales associates.

I think you’re off to a good start, Mr. Justin Gaethje look-a-like. It kind of appears that you have cauliflower ear? Anyways, I digress. Consider adding your names to Dan.com

Put your mind to it and you can sell some domains. It really helps if you love domains.

Furthermore, if you aren’t satisfied with activity or lack-thereof, consider trying out the Afternic ns3 ns4 landers like I have at IntuiBet.com. I get good activity with them. The public seems to be most familiar with the godaddy brand.

Haha, yeah that is Justin in my display picture!

Just a funny photo of the most violent man in MMA looking like a nerd!
