Do products in a store need a description? A lot of them do not. But good marketing descriptions may help visibility and help to sell your products, services, and domains faster.

For me in domaining more valuable will be good logo than description. Description can be good if your domain has not so obvious destiny.

Descriptions get buyer understanding more about your domain.
let said you have books.com this domain can speak for this self but if you have ClearanceBooks.com that domain need descriptions to get costumer attention. This is my opinion if you have different opinions please share with us .

I have only used a domain description once, I noted the definition and age, along with suitable business ventures for the domain.

Exactly. With a description, you can take the buyer on a journey with (even more) opportunities for development. You can talk about similar domain sales, about financing, Lease-to-own, and other options. In fact even a guy called 'Rick' is doing this on his blog. When he thinks a potential buyer comes in his ballpark, and they share the vision of building a dream business on this domain, any additional info is always welcome.
