Selfmade dot com is a fantastic sale, Skates isn't bad either.

Also if previous owner of selfmade dot com wasn't already a millionaire, find it cool how they can now tell everyone they are a selfmade millionaire (or close) by selling Selfmade dot com :xf.cool:

Thanks for the info.

The great thing about this sale is that it’s 2 words. Could be 3 or more. Point is, one word domains are valuable but the right 2-3 word domain could be more valuable. Why? 2-3 word domains say something that you can’t always convey in a single word.

Nice name, good price, should have sold it for 1M+

I wonder if that was the original goal but they ended up going lower.

I know what your saying, but selfmade is one word.

It shows the power of single word .com's, I've been trying to roll the dice again for a single word .com, have quite a high budget (investment wise) and sending enquirys for lots of names and am finding single word .com's are totally unbuyable (investment wise).

I know a few are buyable, but i have to really like something to buy it and ones I'm targeting are mid-6 figure+ potential (up to 7 figures).

But when i look at sales like this and domains like 'bullish' they arn't really 'top tier' on paper, but sold for $1 million each recently, I think soon 7 figures is going to be the norm for single word .com domain names.

Nah. If you search self made it’s qualified by a hyphen. It’s also what the public perceives or believes. To the majority it’s two separate words.

Anyhow, nice sale but it’s not self.com or made.com.

:xf.cool: That's indeed a notable circumstance.

I remember the sayings of a Domain Sherpa who said once that "two word domains convey the meaning clearly"

Seeing the same thing have a client who has a big budget but stuff is very expensive.

People are realizing that the best domains are the gateway to billion dollar businesses. I think in the next few years we’ll see many deals done in the $10 million plus range.

I honestly think a shift is coming. 2 letter .com are the most coveted but in most cases they don’t say anything. Keystrokes are not of importance anymore.

If you have a 2 word domain that people gravitate to you’ve got gold!

I hope you are right but i think that's easier said than done, for domains to be worth $10 million+ means, there as to be a collective voice saying 'you can't buy a domain for this quality for less than $10 million' and i can't see that happening, for a domain to sell for $10 million+ (8 figures) means the seller will not doubt have to turn down 7 figure offers, that is going to be hard for anyone to do, 7 figures is life changing, retirement money. Even if you are already a millionaire, it is difficult to turn down 7 figures.

As said above i do think 7 figure domain sales could be a lot more common in the next 1 to 3 years, but 8 figures being the norm, i think is unlikely.

One thing to keep in mind is that many folks have huge disposable dollars in the form of crypto. To ask 200 btc for a great domain should be feasible.

To give an example - a friend purchased a domain a few weeks ago for 5.5 btc or $300,000. In your mind it’s easier to transfer the btc vs wiring dollars.

Now think of when btc is worth $100k or more per unit. Easy to see how domain sales at $10 million can happen more often. Also, I see crypto and domains as very similar assets. To swap one for the other, at what seems like big money, isn’t bothersome.
