It's now 4.99 at Epik. I just registered two ( nic and blockchain) since I have limited funds. I only register the most common keywords for none .com extensions.

These aren't recognized by browsers as other tlds are and cannot be utilized as such from what I understand

I'm surprised Epik is selling domains with such "fake" extensions.

New.net was selling .shop etc, and people had to install some spyware to make them work, and ofcourse most people wouldn't, so they were junk from the beginning, and even if most people installed it, we now have real .shop. What if a real well recognized .truth is introduced.

Thanks. I didn't know this, I assumed it was ICANN-certified. Anyway, @Rob Monster says they will refund those would not want it.

Yep, the same issues that were brought up in the .o thread you linked to, seem to be still happening.

about it being an alt extension.

The search engine rankings stuff is false.

Not sure how many alt extensions they have available but all the pages on them should be up front as to what they're about.

You already have people in this thread wanting to get a refund, just like that older thread.

I mean, the world is changing fast. Maybe after US revolution they will be recognized and become popular (and the revolution is not far away). But I don't see any resale value at the moment, because they are not normal domains (so far).
Compare this with Bitcoin. Ok , it was opensource, and had some nice tech behind it. But this wouldn't convince me to buy any Bitcoin in 2009. (If I did, I would become a B'aire). But still there was no reason to buy it, because it could easily be duplicated etc. .. It is worth something now, because many companies accept it as payment method, and it was advertised everywhere. Similarly, without knowing what kind of power is behind alttlds, it is difficult to make a guess about their future potential.

We're getting there. Cloudflare just launched a gateway for some if I'm not mistaking. Once they get heavily involved we'll probably see a bigger distributed adaption.

Not every alt is equal, big turnoff for
years (decades ?) to come.

Also surprised they're still using these shady selling tactics for alts. It has been addressed plenty of times.
