They don’t technically need the com. JMO. Its not a site that will be visited— its an app only. They are not the only ones who might want this name. I am sure this name was priced high before the development of the app as its a well known compound word.

How come they have JoinClubHouse.com? They could have jettison domain all together and build only Apps. Then any day Google and Apple decides, they'll simply close down their business and send them out of existence.

As long as you need a domain name, technically you must need the .com, especially if you're building a mammoth business. #MHO.

They will secure it in the end... But that might be far far off.. till that time the present owner must enjoy the free traffic he'll keep getting!

They can never escape rebranding, unless the platform stopped getting big. The decision to delay the domain acquisition is a win for the domain owner.

That would be the likely explanation but for a business that is going for series funding, such mindset is heavily flawed and inexcusable. Now at $1b valuation, the domain owner is sure going to take a stand and hold for big dollars.
