Ive got a few one word typo names. They get about 3-5 hits/ day and make a little change.

Do you think they will still be earning 5-10 years from now?

I have noticed that a lot of typo domains give a notice to the user that they might be going to the wrong website. That could be going some way to kill off the typo, eg:

I found the below an interesting read in regards to this company and how their algorithm ranks typo's

https://www.algolia.com/doc/guides/managing-results/optimize-search-results/typo-tolerance

scroll down and there is a link in the section "Impact of Typos in Ranking Formula" which breaks it down it down in quite a lot of detail......

I assume Google and all other search engines do something similar nowadays.......and with the rise of auto correct and voice search I personally think typo's will be become less and less important/profitable as time goes by..... how long?...not sure.....

Typo significance is fading along with traffic share of devices with keyboards. Do you even bother typing domain names, while normally browsing? Google search corrects typos. Mobile screen keyboard corrects typos. Mobile voice search corrects typos.

though search engines prompt - but for branding it's still relevant

I must be using my browser incorrectly.

I use Google to search stuff, but I type domain names in the browser window ;)

All the browsers correct typos in search. I even have a warning on one of my domains that i am potentially hijacking traffic off another one of my own sites. Typos aren't going to work in searches. Only a slip of finger when typing addresses in URL bar.

I disable all the auto-correct and predictive typing features.
