Dear Ladies and Gentlemen,

We are pleased to announce that the DomainProfi GmbH from Germany has acquired the domain drop catching platform catchtiger.com from Netherlands. As of now both domain backorder services nicsell.com and catchtiger.com are run by the same management.

With this merger our goal is to combine the strengths of both platforms and grow further. Currently, we offer dropcatching for .de, .at and .eu at nicsell.com whereas you can encounter .de, .eu, .uk, .nl, .be, .ch, .it, .li and .fr at CatchTiger.com with many more to follow such as .es, .dk, .se.

We want to offer more features and domain names than ever before. Our adventure to becoming a global player is starting now! If you want to become a part of our journey and are interested in backordering expired domains check out our websites.

Start bidding now at nicsell.com & catchtiger.com!

Any questions? We are happy to answer your questions.

Best regards

Manni To

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
I tried to contact these last 2 weeks Catchtiger support regarding a sale via the platform, but I received no answer.
Do I have to contact Nicsell instead?

Usually we answer any emails from both platforms within 1-2 working days, but we might have missed yours. You can gladly contact us at nicsell, if you do not receive a reply from us at CatchTiger.

Sorry for the inconvenience.

@nicsell : Is it sufficient to place a backorder with one of the two platforms (like with namejet/snapnames), or are these running independently at this stage and run separate auction pools?

When it comes to .de it suffices if you only use one of the two platforms. Regarding other TLDs they unfortunately still run separately. That is why depending on the TLD you are interested in, you can prefer one platform over the other. Basically like below:

nicsell:
.de, .eu and .at

CatchTiger:
.uk. .fr, .nl, .be, .ch, .it, .li

Visited Catchtiger, didn't find anything about backorders. Only some blog post but not real link or pricing or whatever.

That is weird, we do have an older blog, but both catchtiger.com as well as catchtiger.de should forward you to our backorder services. At CatchTiger bids start at 50 €, but can be lowered to 35 € depending on the subscription model.

As we check both our inboxes on a daily basis that is very weird. I have just send you a pm regarding this matter.

@nicsell

In case you still follow on this thread,

can you clarify how .de bids work between the two platforms?
eg.
what happens if one user wins in one platform and another in the other... who gets the domain?

thanks

Yes we still follow this thread.

Regarding .de we offer synchronized bidding between both platforms so bidding on either platform affects the bid on the other. That is why bidding on only one website perfectly suffices as there is only one winner for whom we will attempt to register a domain name in the end.

Comparing both platforms however, if you are mainly interested in .de, it would make more sense to only ever participate at nicsell as starting bids are lower and the auctions close later.

Your explanation still have 'holes'.

For example,

let's say that someone bids on a domain in Catchtiger, wins the auction at 100 EUR out of a proxy bid of 1000 EUR.

let's say that on the other auction at NICsell, someone else bids up to 500 EUR and stops.

What will happen?

edit: Nevermind, I just read your email which clarifies the whole situation.

I would strongly advise however, you either remove .de from catchtiger or make it very clear how the process works on the main page somewhere or with a pop-up or a warning, etc.

Thanks

This is what I told you by email:

"It is possible for two different customers to win an auction for the same domain, however, due to the fact that auctions at nicsell close a few hours later, auctions that had closed at Catchtiger were actually still ongoing until they close at nicsell as well. This implies that winning at Catchtiger could still result in you not being the high bidder in the end, because someone else at nicsell bid higher than you.

This is also one of the reasons why we always advise customers to participate at nicsell rather than Catchtiger as we do want nicsell to be our premier website in the future."

If there is anything still unclear, please ask away.

I would strongly advise however, you either remove .de from catchtiger or make it very clear how the process works on the main page somewhere or with a pop-up or a warning, etc.

Thank you for your suggestion! We have also thought about adding a notice at Catchtiger and intend to do this in the future.
