Poor Move by CatchService.com

Hello everyone,

I've been using a domain drop-catching service named CatchService.com for about six months and would like to share with you my experience using it.

Regarding the service itself, I think it was fine, I've had some success catching some good looking .com domains, Pricing was also reasonable.

All the past months were fine and whenever i face any sort of issue i reach out to the owner privately as he's a respected member of this amazing community. ( @Riz M. ) Until today, He managed to catch two domains for me and during checkout i learned that PayPal is no more an option to pay so i reached out and asked about that matter.

He confirmed that PayPal is no more an option and he only have two other options which I'm not so comfortable with, So i said fine, I will think it over and let him know where I'm at.

Surprisingly he was like, Think it over? Are you going to do board meeting for $36? ( Price of the current orders ) Which I'm not quite getting this line, Are you saying like you've reached a certain level of success that $36 is no longer a number for you? And the whole thing was about the payment method for the current orders and any potential future orders so i don't even understand why you said this. He followed up with : Anyways I'm just cancelling your orders and please do not place anymore orders. Before even i respond he went ahead and deleted my account from the site.

Poor move sir and so unprofessional. Nothing personal and I'm taking this public because you're a business, And this is my feedback for it.

Frankly, mate, hard to believe. I bet you omit some significant parts of your correspondence with Riz.

Fortunately you didn't bet with money because you'd have lost it for good. It is as simple as i wrote above and he got all the time to respond.

I bought around 30 domains from him during the past 6 months and never had an issue. It was surprising.

it doesnt look good, but keep in mind;

Paypal banning everyone; “Cancel Culture”
(Cant blame @Riz M. if dropped him LOL) Paypal did to Namebio.

That said, this could be geographical issue, i know Paypal not available in some countries

I've never blamed him for anything. I know it could be out of his hands i just took his confirmation that there's no way to use PayPal and said i will think about the other options and make my decision, Apparently he was mad because of this last line which is weird. He was mad because i was going to think about it.

for transparency:

if paypal is no longer an option, then it should be edited from tos
and...
unless you violated one or more of the terms of use, then there is no valid reason to delete your account.

hopefully, it can be resolved, professionally.

imo....

As for the TOS right now the following screenshot could help.

And no terms were violated, Everything was fine and I was happy doing business. What he did was just weird and for no real obvious reason.

I see they require LinkedIn account as well as Namepros. I don't use LinkedIn and am not going to create one just to use their service. So, their TOS are not acceptable to me

I find Paypal a pain. So much so that I won't be joining in any more NP auctions or sales if it is the only declared method of payment.

If a dropcatching service operator or any other service operator in the domaining industry no longer accepts them for payment, not only can I fully understand it, I endorse it. OK, it would have been somewhat more diplomatic to have announced the fact so anyone using the service would see it before bidding or ordering. But I can't see that as such a great calamity.

I don't, and won't, ever, offer them as a payment method within my own businesses.

But thanks for the tip off, @Fadi H. I didn't know about CatchService.com. I'll add them to my list of dropcatchers if and when I can get a handle on their fees.

You're very welcome. I was fine if PayPal was off service for this business, I was just getting a confirmation about it and about to think if the other options were good for me, And ONLY for that reason i was out. Not sure if it sounds like a reason though.

You can use them without a LinkedIn profile. Just talk to Riz. He's not a bad guy.

I would not put this on the service or the seller but domainers like Adam Strong have had their PayPal shutdown, and sometimes when you get micro payments even as small as $20 from some watched Country, it can set off a red flag.

It’s not as if they removed it by choice, PayPal doesn’t give you much recourse, but don’t talk bad about a good business because of something PayPal did. We all know Riz is one of the nicest guys in domaining, and his service is top notch. You can still use credit card, and crypto, it’s 2021 buy a prepaid credit card at the local store, not a big deal.

Come on guys you going to really try to ruin someone’s business because PayPal shut them down. When you receive micro payments from all over the world a single payment can trigger PayPal, and you have no recourse, they won’t even hear you out.

I once sent $50 for a namepros buy to a guy in Russia, it set off a whole chain of alarms, and we were both verified, that transaction, and my $50 is still frozen, and support or click from transaction page go to dead page as they have been investigating for a year over a $50 domain purchase.

I've seen Riz's not so attractive side, so I wouldn't be vouching for internet acquaintances.

Pretty clear from OP's chat with Riz about the matter that Riz was being unprofessional and vindictive for some reason.

I like catchservice as it already earned me xxxx$ via sales , left using it due to budget problems but will use it in future for sure. Bring back paypal

This thread is getting ugly fast - not going to do anybody any favours if it keeps going down this path.....this get's indexed remember and businesses and names can be affected by it......
