I think Epik is building the best ever Domain Lander in the history of domaining, and it really needs to be talked about extensively. That's why I am creating this discussion thread. A lot of thought process really goes into the project. And I can see (for the first time) a landing page that is built from the stand point of domainers rather than for just the marketplace itself.

Everything you have ever dreamt of getting or seeing in a professional landing page can be found in the new Epik marketplace landing page design.

Some of my Favorites Features:

1. The ability to optimize your "domain for sale" landing page to actually rank on Google, displaying your sales pitch/domain description. I just did that with few of my generic domain names such as ASAP.TV, targeting certain keywords, and they are showing pretty well on Google. That's a huge plus in my marketing effort.

2. Being able to change background image is another huge one for me. If you are good with pictures and images, you will surely find this very useful. I did that with Nagasaki.org and the result was truly amazing, showing the city of Nagasaki right at the background.

There are too many positive features and I don't want to mention all of them, all alone :xf.grin::xf.grin:

So I am leaving you guys to share and discuss what you loves most or dislike about the new Epik marketplace and the landing pages.

The only negative for me is the checkout process. There are too many terms and conditions buttons to tick before checking out. It will be nice if they can streamline those into one beautiful big button :xf.cool:

They also need to place the checkout button directly under the payment options. Right now it is awkwardly place somewhere below at the sidebar, which I don't find cool at all.

Sales experience is also welcomed in this discussion. I haven't had any sells so far at Epik because I started using the marketplace just recently, but the future is looking so bright.

I registered an .xyz domain at Epik, and it was automatically added to the marketplace with a minimum offer of $5. Is this something new? I cannot find anything regarding this in the account settings.

Hi

By default, If you create a unique profile for the domain, our system can automatically display it on our marketplace.

Go to https://registrar.epik.com/profile/domains-profiles, click "Manage" on your domain profile, and change settings for "Epik Parking: Set Parking: NO" (check image below). Changes will be work immediately.

I know this has been brought up before, but why was the interface for entering prices changed, now quite some time ago, so that if you enter for example 988 it sets the price at $9.88? Surely this is prone to errors. Does anyone really need to enter domain prices in pennies?

Perhaps it was related to the payment options, but there too I would prefer to round up to the nearest dollar on monthly payments. The current system of for example $112.56 CDN per month runs out of the box and looks ugly. Set your currency to something like CDN to see for yourself.

i like Epik, especially love the lander and payment plan flexibility and NameLiquidate, but have tried for my life and can think of no justification for requiring people to enter 129500 if they want to sell a domain name for $1295. As far as I can see you are alone in the domain world in doing it this way. No, this message was not prompted by me selling something for 1/100 its price, but I hate the extra effort to make sure it does not happen each time, and some day I will slip up and it will happen.

Thanks for considering my advice.

Bob

I agree...very frustrating and no where else is this done (at least any other places I use for selling).

Also, I would like the option for a 24 month finance option under the 'select a templet' section...one that would automatically set equal payments based upon the price of the domain once it is entered. There is a 12 month but no 24...now that I think about it, a 36 month option would be nice as well. If space is an issue, just remove one or two of the 5 year options.

Hi Bob!

I will sent your review to our engineers. We'll try to figure it out.

Hi Mr. Funsky

I understand your suggestion. I'll send it to our team.

I think it will not be a problem to implement this payment option.

I don't know why this function with TXT-record does work, but please send email to [email protected]. I will send your message to our developers. Perhaps this is a problem or such functionality was originally laid down. I think we will solve the problem soon.

any plans for
"Rental & Purchase Plans" to be enabled and editable for domains not hosted @ epik?

These days when I login I usually get 2x SMS for the 2FA (both with a different code) and it's a lucky dip as to which one I should use. Does anyone else get this? I assume Epik would want to fix it up as I imagine they're paying for both text messages.

Option to remove idiotic Estibot from UI...
When? At least 1 year of waiting...

As I know, only for parked domains on Epik Marketplace.

Are you sure? Maybe you tried logging in twice and got a bug with it? If I mistake, please send this report to [email protected]

Estibot shows the estimated cost of the domain. For most users, this is an extremely important indicator.

100%. It started happening a couple of months ago. It doesn't happen on any other site or any other function on my PC, so I don't see how it would be an accidental double-click or else that would occur on other things too. I will let support know.

EDIT: In fact, it definitely isn’t a double-click as the login is handled by FederatedIdentity and I don’t actually click anything to have the 2FA code sent.

Thanks.

Estibot shows the estimated cost of the domain. We cannot sell domains to Estibot, its a service, not a domain broker. Estibot is added as an EVALUATION SERVICE for domains. If you have a better formula for calculating the cost of a domain, I suggest you create your own service for evaluation. Since we can't calculate the cost of a domain on our own, we integrated the Estibot system so that people understand the approximate price of a domain, but not the exact one.

Fine. Some may need it. Others may stop (or never start) using Epik because of this joke. So, just make it optional, why not? Most notably, for those members who opted out - Epik should NOT pass the domain names, details or anything to estibot, since one may not want this third party [who are in analytics business!] to become aware that the domain name is registered, regged with Epik, owned by a domainer (which would be reasonable guess), etc.

FYI

From The Rick Schwartz Domain Name and Traffic Blog:

BestOdds.com sells for $3.6 MILLION!! Estibot Appraisal: $730
Morning Folks!! Well here is a ANOTHER colossal failure by Estibot.com (what’s new?) incorrectly estimating the value of BestOdds.com

We do not transmit domain data to Estibot. We only receive the estimated value of the domain based on data from Estibot. Estibot calculates the cost automatically, taking into account previous sales factors and the popularity of words in search engines.

For example - I have i/n/s/u/n/e.com (recently sold on Afternic for $5000, but expired, and I`m registered him), but Estibot rated his for $370.

The estimated cost does not have a direct relationship with the final price. If you bought a domain example.com and Estibot estimated it at $500 but want to sell it for $100,000 - try to sell him for this price.

If you have not been able to sell it for $100,000 before, try selling it for the estimated value. In this case, Rick Schwartz registered the domain and held it until the sale for $3.6 million. However, the domain is estimated at $730 - this is an example of a successful sale with a higher price and lowers the domain's estimated cost.

Don't act as amateur registrar!
Remove it completely or make optional!

I don't understand your statements.

As an example, we do not specify in the control panel that we use Estibot for the estimated value - just "Value"

Also, for example, Dynadot using Estibot for estimated cost on all auctions:

Dynadot also by your opinion Amateurs? We use EstiBot services for ESTIMATED VALUE. We get an approximate price, which does not reflect your personal desire to sell the domain for a large amount.

Who told you so?

It is NOT.

Estibot evaluations are laughable and idiotic.

If you really are in need to show some evaluations for some reasons that no one else can understand, use Godaddy appraisal instead, these are tons times more accurate.

Oh wait...

Do you have a good analog? We use third-party services for estimate pricing for domains and do not control the output from these services.
