Today when i opened one of my domain which uses Afternic nameserver, it opened this new designer landing page, initially i just panicked thinking whether this domain dropped and someone catched it, but it seems Afternic redesign the lander, what you guys think about this new lander? I felt the old one very archaic and not user friendly, this one cool clean and in single glance one can identify this domain is for sale. I felt anything better than the old one. what about you?

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
Unpopular opinion: I think the new design looks like crap. The logo looks like an 8 yo cut-n-pasted it together. How about a modern lander with a modern design? Not a hard ask.

The things is Godaddy is not known for any update, they are as archaic as Egyptian mummy's. so anything is better not that they have best design.

Back to old design. No BINS. No forms. No GD logos... nothing.
Or is it for me only ??

Atm, I'm seeing the same layout and content on that lander for that domain. With one minor difference: an additional local phone number for the Netherlands.

This happens in 2 cases as far as I know.

1) Nameservers are pointed correctly but you haven't added the domain into your Afternic account.
2) Nameservers are pointed correctly and the domain is added in your Afternic account but the domain is in Pending Sale which may convert into a sale or not.

You may be right . The domain is in "in-review" status in my AN account.

There's also the 3rd option of being in review especially if you recently transferred the name to another registrar

But then it's still confusing that I buy a name from the aftermarket either at Sedo or at any of the fast transfer participating registrars like Dynadot, transfer it to my new registrar, add it to Afternic and it gets automatically added to fast transfer same day.

I thought there was supposed to be a 60 day lock when you change registrars/registrant details.

It's confusing because I have names that are listed for fast transfer but immediately I transfer it to say namecheap (due to a promo), I have to wait another 60days before being eligible for fast transfer.

It varies from registrar to registrar.

Dynadot does not impose that 60-day lock and hence they allow instant FT participation.

Namecheap, on the other hand claims to have the lock in place and hence does not send over the opt in emails before 60 days.

That is interesting. But I guess this only applies to Afternic FT? If you want to transfer a name away from Dynadot that has been there for less than 60 days, I think you cannot do that?

We can transfer if the registrar does not impose that lock. So if FT is getting activated, then we can even manually transfer out as the lock itself is not there in the first place.

That is good, but it seems GoDaddy will also soon offer us a BIN lander that seems quite different in design:

https://domainnamewire.com/2021/01/26/godaddy-to-introduce-buy-now-lander-for-aftermarket-domains/

See handwrapper.com as an example.

So I wonder if that BIN lander is only for names listed directly via GoDaddy accounts or also names listed at Afternic?

Would love to see such a BIN lander as well. That's in fact the only reason I'm not currently changing NS to Afternic.

Is it just me or do all the new godaddy animations and graphics look like something out of the nineties.

I don't see any animations. But re graphics, I think the design is clean and very very 2021 :) I like its simplicity, not too much distraction. Only the BIN button is clickable (and the phone numbers).

ps: talking about the BIN lander example posted above.

I am talking more about this animation and I notice they are using similar type of animations and carrying that look into other products.

Just seems a bit old school to me.

Aah. I don't see the animation you are seeing. I think you're still seeing a previous version of the lander. Perhaps you can make a screenshot and share it here?

It's not you, I don't like that animation either. It is very uncool. Anything with http or www in modern communication is a no-go.

Just mentioning the similarities in graphics used across the products, not very modern looking.

That animation shows up as a loading animation between pages
