I am thinking of transferring some .news names to Porkbun because they have the best price right now. Any experience with them? Just curious if they are reliable. Or any experiences good or bad with them.

They seem pretty good. Free WHOIS privacy, etc. There's not too many reviews about them online though.

Hello, Jurgen. Just wanted to let you know that we now support .PRO at 11.82 / year.
Thanks!

But with other registrars I have $1.xx on .PRO (ELB, NameCheap, name.com).
And Renewal/Transfer for ~$10 (internetbs.net, epik, Alpnames, Regtons).

I'll look into promos from the registry that we qualify for. They might be getting a special deal based on volume, which we can't compete with unfortunately :( Or they are simply losing money on the sell of the domain.

For transparency sake, our typical gross profit is $1 over wholesale / ICANN fees / CC fees on non-premium domains. We do less than $1, sometimes $0, on a few TLDs to be more competitive but for the most part we try to peg it at $1 per registration year.

They don't lose anything...
This .PROmo is available from Afilias since Jan'2016 (1 year already)...

Can we get a fix for minor masked forwarding bug: landing pages show Porkbun's favicon. They shouldn't be showing any favicon at all..

Thanks for pointing that out, I've removed the favicon image. As long as the browser doesn't have it cached it shouldn't show up any more.

Biological ink is a great domain! No extra terms and conditions, just remember it will renew at full price next year. Thanks for taking me up on the offer, can't wait to see the blog.

Hi Kino, can I also get a free 1 year domain extension with UPL in the INK extension. Rest assured it will renew at full price of $8.47 next year. Hoping to start a new blog if you give the offer. Thanks.

Hi, it's Ross now. jraniaz, I just sent you an email with a code.

Please note that most .ink domains renew at $20.06, not $8.47.

Hi, it's Ross now.
Sheesh, what's the turnover rate over there? :xf.confused:

Kino-->SlackJawed-->Ross

Why not just open a dedicated Porkbun account and pass it on to whomever represents?

BTW welcome to the forum :)

@ porkbun

possible to show domain's registration year? Hovering over the "time left" shows only the expiry date..it could be built into the same little info box. Unless I'm missing it elsewhere on the site..

I found several price cheapest..
I'll register one domain today..

Please add into Account Settings additional options to disable Privacy and AutoRenewal by default...
I always waste my time after registration because lack of this.

For connivence, people like auto renewal and whois privacy. If you don’t, it shouldn’t take more than a couple seconds to toggle them off for each domain.

When you register tens/hundreds domains - this is not a couple seconds.

And what people exactly???
As I see even on this forum - most domainers HATE autorenewal.

It shouldn't be assumed that we do. It's as annoying as the boxes that are auto-checked now for "Stay Logged In" for websites. If I want to auto-renew, stay logged in, or want whois privacy, I'll do it myself, thankyou. Everythings being dumbed down for "convenience".

@Ross from Porkbun if you get a chance to review:

Considering moving our entire portfolio from NameSilo due to their redirects not working properly. A couple of questions.

1) Are gTLDs supported? Specifically interested in .se, .in, .id, and .co.id. What is the pricing?

2) Are you able to redirect domains to www AND https in a single 301 hop?
For example, http://olddomain/page1 should redirect to https://www.newdomain.com/page1 in a single 301 redirect instead of redirecting to www first and then to https.
We can do it in a single redirect via .htaccess on our server, but for some reason NameSilo's technical team is struggling with this. Multiple 301 redirects are not good for SEO, so we are looking for a new registrar.

I'm slowly moving most of my domains from Godaddy DDC to Porkbun. This will take maybe one year to finalize completely. I'm satisfied with domain prices at Porkbun (especially for ngtlds), however bulk domain management is missing a lot of features compared to Godaddy and other registrars. Especially for larger portfolios.

Hello @SlackJawedYokel :)

Let me start with some improvements I'd like to see at Porkbun:
  • a large, permanent search bar for portfolio searches
  • a 'date added' column
  • a better way of filtering domains by TLD, DNS, etc. (including combined filtering)
  • a way to bulk unlock domains
  • a better UI (currently: enormous buttons, while domain names are tiny)
  • show the nameservers for all domains in portfolio without having to click "Details"
  • ability to add custom columns
  • use black for column header text, instead of this pink color, for readability reasons
  • show a counter with the number of domains I've selected using checkboxes
  • better use of screen space for larger screens
  • re: bulk edits result: I'd like to see a summary of actions, and the affected domains
  • an account wide option to set defaults regarding whois privacy (redacted or privacy service)
  • as reported earlier in this thread: a global option to disable auto renewals by default
  • in emails re: "Afternic opt-in" and "ICANN WDRP", I really prefer a direct link to the porkbun.com domain, not via mandrillapp.com with a redirect to porkbun.com
  • The current way of getting a CSV with an overview of all domains is great, but unfortunately the CSV includes all AUTH-codes by default and is sent through email instead of securely downloading it from the Porkbun dashboard. This may impose a security risk, even though TLS may be used while emailing. I'd like to download such a list directly to my computer, from the secured Porkbun website, and be able to select whether I wish to include the AUTH codes or not for thousands of my domains in this CSV.

Okay, there are more improvements I'd like to see, but in general, I'm rather satisfied with Porkbun as a registrar, so keep up the good work.

Thanks.

The emails show mandrillapp.com as like many businesses, they want to track the click through rate, and generally mail services automatically generate them links.

I know what it does, but that's not my point.

Great only thing i feel a bit difficult is the dns editing in layout.

So far I like the pricing and the control panel.

I hate the bulk search though. I had to add the extensions for each keyword in every line.

domainname.xyz
mydomainname.co
hasslebulksearch.net

In other registrars, you only add the keyword, then below the box is the choice for tlds you wish to register.

Thanks for the wishlist! I've added these to our internal request list for review so that we can figure out what we can / cannot do.

Pokrbun pricing is not as attractive as NameSilo or Sav for large portfolio owners.
