The Dot Holdings Extension. Is It Better To use As Your Main Domain Or Forward?

Suppose you're starting a new company with the name xxxxholdings.com would it be better to use the dot com, or would you do the reverse of that, and use the newer, dot holdings extension and forward xxxxholdings to xxxx.holdings?

Your thoughts?

I don't like blanket rules in domaining, every name creates its own circumstance. Without knowing the name but at least knowing the keyword/extension here;

- if it makes a sensible combination, let's say either Eagle Holdings or something more attuned to the keyword like Investment Holdings, I would lean towards using the new gTLD as main and forwarding the .com to it.

- if the combination is odd, let's say a 3-worder like Kitchen Spoon Holdings or a very bad sounding plural like Vintages Holdings, ditch the new gTLD altogether and stick solely .com.

dot com is preferable but a better choice can only be made after knowing the name.
