Hey Guys,

I dont think we have had a poll like this in a while- sorry if we have, in which case Mods please remove.

So the question isn't which ccTLD will have the highest/most sales, but rather which ccTLD will experience the most growth in 2021 in your opinion. The most promising one, in other words.

Sorry in advance if I have missed any out (I am probably way out of touch on the latest trends...)!

*my vote goes to .IN! Why? Main driver is the growth of the country behind the ccTLD itself- India!

Thanks!

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
My vote for .TV
And only due to YouTube growth...

I'd say .io

Some NameBio data regarding sales since January 1 (many wholesale transactions included here, of course):

- 103 .io domains sold for a total of $ 73K
- 84 .co sales for a total of $ 51K
- 16 .tv sales for a total of $ 68K (two outliers here, surgery.tv at 45K and soul.tv at 18K)

https://namebio.com/?s==gzN3IDN1EzM

Of course, plenty of sales - regardless of extension - never make it to NameBio, so this is certainly not a complete picture. But it's probably accurate in predicting trends.

Many thanks @Rhinnnn! But more specifically, do you see their growth outpacing the other ccTLD's? In other words, .io, .co. .tv are all already quite well established. Do you think their growth will outpace e.g. the lesser known ccTLD's too?

.LA

The other suffix to watch is of course .Ca ('Canada' but also of course 'California').

As an aside the .EU extension will become worth less and less IMO.

I will still go with .co because of its global acceptance & this is getting popular every day and mostly used by companies/businesses. Sometimes it gets better sales than .org and according to some sites, it is the 3rd popular extension after com and net.

I vote for a . co because Google uses G .co, twitter t. co
and i have a few dot cos Amerikan.co and Majestics.co, WhatTheF*ck.co )) but will drop them because dot com is king

I would love to say .in, but I have said that for 10 years, and it still hasn't happened...

.in , that's the cctld with the most potential yet to reach and almost unlimited base (businesses/corporates) that are going digital

For english keywords/acroynms , its going to be a race between .de , .co.uk and .in/.co.in . Top 3 cctlds with countries in Top gdp's in the world.

Prefer cctlds that represent Real Countries

I always look on Indian bids...
And nothing special there. Even mid $xxx offers are rare.

Look at the rate of Indian startups and the bigger macro picture- Indian economy is moving into services sector in a big way.

Thanks- why do you say that about .eu, out of interest?

I like .co too. Renewal is on the expensive side. Not as bad as io though

Agreed! Only thing is that .co.in isn't as appealing in my opinion. .Co.uk is more appealing than .uk for example. But IMO, .in has surpassed .co.in with network effect and acceptance. + the % of indian pop going live online have mostly known .in and not .co.in. Same cannot be said for .co.uk for example. Sorry, not sure if I worded this well!

@domain invest3r - The EU is undergoing a political and economic crisis, in fact multiple crises.

- The upcoming elections in Italy, Germany, France will produce governments far more anti-EU than the present ones.

- The economies of the EU nations are now looking far more precarious (even ignoring the pandemic) than they did even 2 years ago. Anti-EU sentiment is rising almost in every country within the EU.

- Merkle's resignation in Germany will leave the EU rudderless. Some thought that Macron would replace Merkle as the pre-eminent head of state within the EU, that dream has now all but died. Should Macron even run for another term as President of France it seems highly unlikely that he will even make the run-off election for President.

- The fact that the '.EU' is tied to the whims of the EU commission means that it is open far more to political abuse than even those cctld's of third world nations. Indeed if the .eu suffix had any real substantial value then it would have already become a popular suffix, it has not done so and there seems little likelihood it will in the future, it will always it seems be an also ran compared to the national cctlds of the various component nations making up the EU.

This is just a quick overview of the situation concerning the .eu suffix and I should say this is just scratching the surface of the problems with the suffix.

Hope this helps.

Look at the rate of Indian startups
I had experience with Indian startups as well, their max. budget per domain was mid $xxx.
And the only one offered $1K.

Agreed- indian GDP per capita has always been a v important metric. When I mention the startups I am also referring to the growth of the services industry in India. These startups will be the future Tata's etc. and it is only accelerating...
