After working in sales for around a year pre-rona, I'm quite comfortable on the phone. Given my experience, I'd rather do outbound via phone. It's quite easy to ignore an email, difficult to ignore a call (particularly when foot traffic is down).

Having done some searching, I see most people here initiate outbound with email. Does anyone here make calls for outbound, and if so, what are some of your go-to phrases? How do you introduce yourself?

I'm not remotely concerned about getting "chomped out," I'm just worried about making the conversation fluid.

You need to find the correct person in the organisation to speak with. If it is a big organisation, there will be someone screening the calls and you won't get through. If it is a sole business, you may very well get voicemail.

Save yourself the hassle and use email because it lends itself perfectly to marketing.

Ask for the invitation. All sales people aim to make appointments cold calling will eventually discourage as your leads are burned. Stick to having everything in writing. I think guiding to marketplace over email is another step towards commitment.

  • "Wanna boom boom?"
  • "Do you know what a domain name is?"
  • "Special price, only for you."

i dont like boom boom; sounds like porn.

But, you hit those other two out of the park.

If you say website and domain - they assume you're a web designer or developer.

Well, if you don't succeed in selling them a domain name, there's your back-up plan. Should have been third on the list.
