BrandPa.com has announced their presence on NamePros...
Hi there! I'm sorry your experience with BB wasn't pleasant :/ If you'd like to try our marketplace please don't hesitate to do so :) We're new in the domaining industry but very eager to learn! Let me know what you think or if you have any questions :) This is us: https://brandpa.com/ (or if you'd like to read about the sellers' rules visit this page: https://brandpa.com/start-selling)

Look forward to hearing from you!
Granted, the above post is from the BrandBucket experience thread, and will likely be deleted for being off topic / wrong thread, it was the first time I heard of them. The founder, @Jowita Emberton, had introduced herself in an earlier thread:

Hi guys! NamePros is a great website to get invaluable information about the domaining industry. As a reader, I'm here pretty much every day. As a writer, I'm starting today :)

I'm the founder of Brandpa (brandpa.com), a domain name marketplace similar to BB, BR or Namerific. We use AI and human knowledge to create and judge the names’ value according to how easy to pronounce and catchy they are.

I'm here to learn, get to know you and your recent experiences with other brandable name marketplaces :) We're still developing the business so any insight on our site (brandpa.com) or anything you're missing from other marketplaces will be very useful :)

Thanks!

I'm creating this thread to discuss their marketplace, and for those who have experiences with them.

Here's what I know so far:

The founder, @Jowita Emberton, runs two other online businesses according to her LinkedIn page.

Delighten.co.uk - Web / brand design firm.

Weddination.com - Polish wedding services

According to her LinkedIn, she has been operating BrandPa since August 2016. Though, the last cached Archive.org screenshot is a server error on October 4, 2016 HERE

BrandPa.com (2006) is registered to Oliver Emberton, founder and managing director of SilkTide.com.

Currently, there are 562 domains published / listed on BrandPa. It appears most domains listed are handregged by the owners. Not 100% on this; I will run a check when my program is working again.

After reviewing their listings, I found two errors.

upload_2017-2-20_14-26-8.png The domain regged is MonoRaptor.com, but the text reads ManoRaptor.com

upload_2017-2-20_14-27-32.png The domain regged is UnknownVenues.com, but the text reads UnknownVenus.com

At first look:

Pros
  • No Listing Fee
  • FREE Logos
  • Domain Owner sets price ($1,000+)
  • Forwards all offers for sellers consideration
  • Brandpa is a pretty memorable / catchy brandable domain.
  • Select 'On-Sale' marketing section
upload_2017-2-20_14-34-49.png

Cons
  • Low Alexa Ranking (4,557,819)
upload_2017-2-20_14-36-32.png
  • New site. Assuming low organic traffic, and low type-in traffic due to quality and quantity of inventory.
  • Piggy-back branding off BrandBucket in site footer see below
upload_2017-2-20_14-45-31.png

upload_2017-2-20_14-41-42.pngupload_2017-2-20_14-42-20.pngupload_2017-2-20_14-43-14.png upload_2017-2-20_14-43-54.png

  • Reviews are all from .co.uk domains, yet BrandPa doesn't sell any .co.uk domains. A quick glance at other domains owned by the reviewers and I wasn't able to verify any brandable .com's with history tracing back to BrandPa.
upload_2017-2-20_15-10-41.png

Personal thoughts: I respect that they "allow the seller to submit more domain names" by not charging a listing fee. To me this shows they are willing to work for your exclusivity. Should they gain popularity, I wonder if they'll sustain this business model and/or if their logo / listing quality will decrease over time when resources are spread across the masses.

@Jowita Emberton = Feel free to comment / fill in any of the blanks. :penguin:

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
I can confirm the payment won't take so long (not over 2 days after domain transferred confirm) . have you check on your domain under "Sold"? there will be an instruction there. If you have already pushed the domain you need to confirm in this tab as well.
Under Sold they say that domain is "In progress" , when I click VIEW they say "There's nothing more for you to do right now."

I think the buyer has to confirm receipt or Brandpa has to verify the domain moved another way.

I know buyer confirmed that he got the domain

This is quite strange. How long has it been since the buyer confirmed the transfer of the domain?

ACH info is fine, it is my first sale. But even if it was wrong wouldnt they be letting me know that? LIke:"hey man, seems something is wrong with your account because payment is not going through"?

I am keeping the info for myself for now because I wanna continue working with them .Actually this was my side idea, Just wanted to test an idea almost 2 years ago when I submitted 3 domains with them. Now all of a sudden I sold one, so I saw the idea works so I wanted to submit more domains but now this happened.

Contacted Brandpa support today, they didn't answer but I got a separate message from them saying how they initiated the payment today (even though it is weekend?) Will update when I get the funds.

Just wanted to say that Brandpa apologized and I received the money today. They said that :"It appears that there was a bug in the system" which prevented me getting the money on time.

Hi guys, as my domains Trupto (True + Crypto) and Cryptopult (Crypto + Catapult) both got rejected from Alter and Squadhelp, do you think it's a good idea to pay 20$ (both) to list them on BrandPa? (or maybe I should try BrandBucket and wait for 3 weeks first?)

I know these 2 brandables have a lot of potential this year as the crypto market will probably explode in the next months. I just want them to get as much traffic as possible.

BTW, Brandpa's AI gives very high appraisals on these 2.

Any strategy for these 2 domains would be much appreciated :)

Thanks a lot!!

Brandpa asks $5/submission, doesn't it?

I'm not following Brandpa these days, so I'm not sure if that platform is still as good as 1-2 years ago. What I don't like in Brandpa is that they do not curate the domains any more. Anyway, your domains are great, I think these can sell on Afternic (and Dan) as well. But a submission to Brandbucket might worth the $2.

I live in Spain and became a user after the new updates. They charge me 9.99$ per listing :(

I have only a handful of domains on BB and a huge rejection rate, even more than SH!

Since I don't know that platform very well and I can't get my domains accepted, what do you think are the chances that these domains will be accepted? Also, the lowest amount of coins you can buy on BB is 10 ($10) and I don't think I have any other domains to send to them at the moment.

My domains are currently listed on Dan but I have doubts with both Dan and Afternic. I mean, how are people going to find these β€œabstractβ€œ domains there? They don't have a proper keyword search option, or do they?

Thanks a lot!!

Brandpa is the only non curated brandable marketplace I know that requires exclusivity, you can list any name you want, but you have to point your names to their site all the time also you can't list your names on other marketplaces like Sedo / Afternic. After that if a name sells they take 25% commission.

BrandBucket lists all their names to Sedo,
SquadHelp lists their names to Sedo also allow sellers to list on Afternic.

So when it comes to maximum exposure Brandpa provides the lowest of all.

I was one of the first sellers to join in Brandpa when there was no listing fee ( even they used to do free logo design for all approved names in the begining), built 200+ Brandpa approved names portfolio, sold total around $50k worth of names there but when they decided not to curate the marketplace I didnt see any benifit of competing my names with non curated inventory so I removed all of my names except few which I don't plan to renew.

I think it was around this time last year when Brandpa decided to not curate the marketplace allowing anyone to list any name. It's been nearly a year. Since then I see less and less Brandpa reoorted sells, less and less talk about Brandpa everywhere, less and less Slack channel activity.

It's sad to see an innovative and modern brandable marketplace like Brandpa slowly becoming next Namerific.

This does make me sad - and as someone who uses Brandpa exclusively for my brandables, I get disappointed in them for not doing more for exposure.

I personally choose Brandpa for two reasons - I like the UI of their site better and I like the ability to chat with the designers and essentially "art direct" so that I'm not left with a horribly ugly logo. I've been adding my domains there since around August (I have 175 now) and have sold one (for $750). I'm going to keep giving them a shot because I much prefer the experience there (SquadHelp was just... too clunky for me), but I REALLY hope they can do more in the way of getting exposure for my domains. :/

Those two domains have a low chance of being accepted at BrandBucket in my opinion. If they were mine I would list them on Dan and Afternic in the $499 to $999 range and I'd think twice about renewing them. Either way I wish you well. Any domain has a chance of selling, it's just the odds are higher as you move up in quality. Good luck and Happy New Year! (y)

I also like Brandpa for the same reasons you have given! The problem is (as mentioned before) that it has become a non-curated marketplace now so it's too risky to pay that much for the little exposure a domain will get.

I also like Brandpa because of their separate β€œhot domainsβ€œ list. This is why I am tempted with my Crypto domains. I have the feeling that a domain like Trupto.com could β€œeasilyβ€œ be on that list when crypto gets much bigger, in which case it will get much more exposure than a domain that is not on the β€œhot domainsβ€œ list.

Anyway, I hope you paid the lowest fees possible and that you'll get some more sales :) Good luck!

Thanks a lot for your perspective Keith! Can I ask you why you think these 2 are mediocre names?

My reasoning behind Trupto was that, since central banks will eventually come up with their own digital currency (CBDC's), the market for β€œTrue Cryptoβ€œ (meaning true blockchain decentralized currency) will open/soar.

So I thought that Trupto was a smart blend. Also, TrueCrypto.com is listed at about 20k$, so I'll be competing against it, but for about 1/4th of the price (or maybe 1/8th or 1/20th as you advise :)).

The name is also very short (6L) and memorable, and it conveys True + Crypto very well IMO, as I don't know any other words ending in Pto besides the word Crypto. Also, I don't see many other words starting with Tru, besides True/Truth and Trust (which is positive too:)). The only downside I see, for now, is that it is reminiscent of Trump a little bit, so it may appeal to some while being repulsive to the other 50%

The logic behind Cryptopult was much simpler than that: Coinapult.com is a running website/business.

That being said, I suppose I should listen to more of your podcasts on Brandables, I have really liked the few I have checked out so far! Thanks again!

Best, Jose

I like the domain name trupto.com and believe it can be sold on a brandable marketplace. Good luck :)

I've had 0 luck at BP in the 2+yrs I've been there.

The 1 offer I got a month ago turned out to be fake.

I do like their look and UX/UI platform

I don't like how they have become this quite dormant marketplace like the next namearific as someone pointed out.

They are hardly ever active here on namepros presence is minimal at best.

When they took away the ability to see individual visits and stats on names I was bummed.

When they changed to the Auto submissions , they quality went down and it's was more apparent it's about the turn of a fast buck than and less work on they end. I believe they are focused on other projects and no longer have the drive they once did in the beginning.

I really liked them at first. Now I'd much rather have my names on Afternic DLS

Squad Help and Dan.....put the kind of energy and effort into a marketplace that I'm willing to bet on.

Brandpa and Jowita have always been very kind to me. That I am happy about.

Brandpa as a seller experience, just has not worked for me.

How many names have you listed there?

Not enough to give an type of STR or anything like that lol.,,,,at max I had 30 so this is more so a personal gut feeling and POV I'm sure Id sale something If I had 100-300 names, but I'm not paying $5 per name to sale mmmmmidk maybe 6 out of that for a 25% commission ....and then 300 renewals......just not my style..why I stopped adding a while back and wanted to watch and observe rather than reg reg buy buy pay $5 and have all that going on x200 names.

Sure it works for others, not ideal for me is al.

I think only 27 right

but there's 3-4 of them I'm very confident would have already sold or received offers on through AfterN network...

Hey @sellian - maybe this will give you a little look into what Keith may have been pointing you towards.
& to be clear - I like the names you mention & feel like I know why you choose them - so I'm not negative at all here.

My reasoning behind
- that statement (in the many ways it can be worded differently, but means the same) is the Achilles Heal of all "Investors" - If you have to explain it, it's prob not a great "brandable". A brandable has to light the bulb over all heads & get them interested - needing an explanation & lack of understanding make people wary & avoid sites. Especially if it finance, crypto, etc..

Best of luck.

Hi BrandPlease, Thanks for your comment! I really don't follow you. How is it not reasonable to find a reason to register a domain? Do you ever register domains without a reason? :xf.wink:

My argument was that β€œtrue cryptoβ€œ has the potential of becoming a niche in itself, in opposition to CBDCs.

It's pure speculation I know, but as far as I know, we are in a very speculative business.

Other than that, when you look at pronounce the word Trupto, what is the first thing that comes to your mind? To me it's very clear that it's the blend of True + Crypto, I really can't find any other thing.

Thanks again! (y)
