The only way to end this Pandemic is if the majority of the people around the World get vaccinated.

It's amazing that several vaccines have already been developed in record time and thus far they all show very good results as far as creating some level of immunity against Covid19 without causing any major side effects and supposedly even if those who have been vaccinated come down with the disease it won't be at the more severe levels that require hospitalization.

There are many companies that are working on the vaccine although the top contenders currently are Moderna, Pfizer, and AstraZeneca:

https://www.usatoday.com/story/news...d-vaccine-heres-what-we-know-them/6308571002/

I personally would be first in line to get the vaccine as I am in the older category with some history of heart problems and although I believe that everyone should be free to make their own choices, but this will only be effective in stopping the Pandemic if the majority of the people (like over 80% or so) get vaccinated.

Please do your own research about the vaccines and indicate your choice in the poll (visible to all) and post any justification for your decision as to whether you are going to get the vaccine or not below.

An informative article about the new mutations:

The Coronavirus Is Evolving Before Our Eyes

" These new variants demand to be taken seriously. Skyrocketing case counts in the U.K. suggest a potential to do enormous damage, and the identification of B.1.1.7 in so many countries is noteworthy. Still, we don’t yet know whether either variant will become as dominant worldwide as they have in their respective countries. They might spread widely and cause tremendous harm. They might also do neither. "

How much do people around the world trust the COVID-19 vaccines?

" A year after it emerged, COVID-19 has now claimed more than 2 million lives worldwide. Experts have said for much of the last year that the only way to escape the coronavirus' grasp is through widespread vaccination. Weapons to win that war have been and continue to be approved by individual countries' drug regulators in record time.

But the pace — and a host of other unique factors — have left many around the globe with concerns about the vaccines' safety and efficacy. "

" Below is a snapshot of sentiments on vaccination in nine countries from CBS News journalists: "

Emergency Committee on COVID-19 advises on variants, vaccines

" The EC met virtually yesterday (14 January) at the request of WHO Director-General Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus to review the emerging variants of SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes COVID-19, and to consider the potential use of vaccination and testing certificates for international travel. "

India starts world's largest coronavirus vaccination drive, more than 300 million shots planned

" NEW DELHI — India began inoculating health workers Saturday in what is likely the world's largest Covid-19 vaccination campaign, joining the ranks of wealthier nations where the effort is already underway.

Indian authorities hope to give shots to 300 million people, roughly the population of the United States. But there is no playbook for the enormity of the challenge. "

WHO says Covid vaccines aren’t ‘silver bullets’ and relying entirely on them has hurt nations

  • " The World Health Organization said relying solely on vaccines to fight the coronavirus pandemic has hurt nations.
  • Some countries are seeing spikes in Covid-19 cases "because we are collectively not succeeding at breaking the chains of transmission at the community level or within households," WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said.
  • Dr. Bruce Aylward, a senior advisor to the WHO's director-general, said vaccines are not "silver bullets" "

Florida doctor's death after receiving COVID-19 vaccine sparks investigation

As I have said before I as an older person with some preexisting medical conditions I still plan on getting the new Covid Vaccine when it's my turn to do so (which I hope it will be soon before my body is too old and fragile to be able to handle the injection.)

So far the risks of having any adverse reactions have been low and isolated, but if there are some kind of wide scale problems in the future (which I doubt that there will be based on the available data so far) then I have to reevaluate the situation based on any new information that arises.

On a related thought, I have been wondering if getting Human Convalescent Serum from those who have already been vaccinated can create some level of immunity for others who are still waiting for their turn to get vaccinated.

@Compassion , from an article a few posts before yours on this page:

From NY Post Article:
" “We are not alarmed by this,” Steinar Madsen, medical director with the agency, told Norwegian broadcaster NRK. “It is quite clear that these vaccines have very little risk, with a small exception for the frailest patients.” "

https://nypost.com/2021/01/15/23-die-in-norway-after-receiving-pfizer-covid-19-vaccine/

It looks like they are evaluating the situation to find out if some older people might be too weak for their body to be able to handle the injection.

I believe they need to expand their research to include any and all other age groups that might be too weak for the injection because of their overall health factors and conditions.

Study reveals possible SARS-CoV-2 escape mutant that may re-infect immune individuals

" A recent study by US researchers shows how the 501Y.V2 variant of the severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2), characterized by several mutations, is able to escape neutralization by present first-wave anti-SARS-CoV-2 antibodies and potentially re-infect COVID-19 convalescent individuals. Monoclonal antibodies could ease record Covid hospitalizations. Why are they going unused?

" Monoclonal antibodies are lab-made drugs meant to mimic natural antibodies to SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes Covid-19. They're recommended for people who are at high risk of getting very sick from the virus, including anyone over age 65 and people with underlying health conditions. "

Sinovac says its COVID-19 vaccine more effective with longer dosing interval

" China’s Sinovac Biotech said on Monday that a clinical trial in Brazil showed its COVID-19 vaccine was almost 20 percentage points more effective in a small sub-group of patients who received their two doses longer apart.

The protection rate for 1,394 participants who received doses of either CoronaVac or placebo three weeks apart was nearly 70%, a Sinovac spokesman said.

Brazilian researchers announced last week that the vaccine’s overall efficacy was 50.4% based on results from more than 9,000 volunteers, most of whom received doses 14 days apart, as outlined in the trial protocol."

On a personal note:

I still feel optimistic about being able to bringing the Pandemic under control within the next six months and I still believe that creating herd immunity through vaccination is our best chance to speed things up,

But, the exaggeration of some of the adverse effects of the vaccines which might put some people off in getting vaccinated and the lack of cooperation by some people who still are not abiding by the Pandemic safety guidelines and protocols makes me kind of worried as to how hard this task is going to be going forward.

If there are real wide scale adverse reactions and problems with the vaccines I'll be the first one who likes to know, but although there have been some news about some isolated cases where some people have been experiencing some adverse reactions after getting vaccinated, but I still haven't seen any warnings from any official sources about the vaccines that could make me change my mind about getting vaccinated and until then I am still a strong believer in getting vaccinated.

Love you optimistic. I was just buying pack smokes and i went in store and guy turned around and pulled his mask up pdq.
were all in it together

Mid april when my injection should occur according to dr.

Pack a smokes?
Perhaps at least they are American Spirits?

The rest will most certainly shorten your lifespan, especially if you don't have a legit connection with the tobacco spirits.

Mid april injection?

May god bring mercy into your life to make more fruitful decisions for your well-being

I'm optimistic your patterns of self sabotage will evaporate like a high desert snow in May and you can live to well over 100 years of age.

When I roll in the world with no mask the waves part around me. Those around me who are living in a fear/zombified trance get out of my way, while the others who feel my heart energy smile back ;)

A Troubling New Pattern Among the Coronavirus Variants

" The most concerning versions of the virus are not simply mutating—they’re mutating in similar ways. "

" Here’s how to read the names of the mutations, by the way: Proteins are made up of building blocks called amino acids. N501Y means that the 501st amino acid was originally an N, which stands for the amino acid asparagine, but has been changed to a Y, which stands for tyrosine. "

"The spike protein is how the coronavirus enters cells, and N501Y is in an especially important region called the receptor-binding domain, which latches on to the cell. An N501Y mutation may make the spike protein stickier, allowing it to bind to and enter cells more readily. Such a virus could become more transmissible. On the plus side, however, the mutation doesn’t seem to affect immunity from vaccines. "

3 Questions And The Emerging Answers About COVID-19 Vaccine Protection

" As the COVID-19 vaccine rolls out, three big questions loom. First, can someone who has been vaccinated still spread the disease? Second, will the vaccine remain effective as the virus itself evolves? And third, how long will the vaccine's protection last? "
