As I sit here, revising for the 30th time in the past 30 days; my investing business plan for 2021-
I'm realizing how important it is to keep in mind the importance of quality over quantity.
I've been investing for almost 15 years and I've made some stupid a** mistakes along the way, I'm sure we all have.
And considering there are no real rules to this game, everyone is trying to figure out a strategy that works best for them.
The ultimate goal is to unload these domains for as much money as possible.
Even with all the mistakes, I've still learned a lot. And the biggest thing I have learned is "quality over quantity".
I was once that chic who had to have as many domain names in my portfolio as I could, just to end up having my registration fees out weight my return on investment.
For me, I didn't want my investing to become a liability. And every year for about 7 years, my investments were taking more out of my pocket than they were putting back in. That was a problem for me.
I was doing something wrong.
I think I stood on the notion that all I had to do was buy up a lot of domains in hopes of grabbing the right one that will make me millions one day.
Or the more domains I had, the cooler I looked.
Those days are gone. I think domain investing has become a little more intricate. It's become a little more complex when it comes to how you choose to approach it.
Every case study I've ever done, read, or developed has shown me one thing and one thing only- Things are much different now. And now investors have to be smarter, and more diligent when it comes to their choices.
I had to be much more diligent in my choices. I had to understand that this is a business. This is like any other business that sells a product. It's not going to sell itself; we still have to put in some effort somewhere along the way.
We are going to have to make people want what we have. We have to make our domains stand out and make buyers flock to our listings because....
YOUR REVENUE DEPENDS ON IT!
I never wanted my investments to become a liability. That isn't what investing is about. Anything you invest in should deliver a return one way or another. You should be winning more than you are losing.
