So I watched this movie by Michael Moore. Did not know this came out last year in May 2020.

We've all seen the "save the Earth" propaganda.

With keywords like below.

Sustainable/sustainability
Green
Eco
Carbon emissions
Carbon Neutral
green house gases
Global Warming
Pollution

The solutions to "save the Earth" were in a "green" way

Solar Power
Wind Power

with the ultimate goal to eliminate coal use and reduce green house gases.

The Truth? on Cloudy or rainy days. Solar is not 100% efficient and at night? the efficiency is obviously ZERO.

On non-windy days wind power efficient is less to zero.

during down times both methods secretly will always have a connection to coal powered energy production.

or even LPG.

and then there is power generated from burning BIOMASS.

Biomass sounds pretty cool. And you tell someone "Biomass" most would never know it is the cutting down of forests to burn trees to produce power.

lol

So to prevent global warming? The solution is to cut down the forest and all the trees? and keep coal and LPG as a back up power source?
lol

Gravity and electromagnetism are 2 of the 4 Universal Forces, of course (along with the weak and strong nuclear forces). But I think at that 'universal' level so called 'Dark' Energy would be the Ultimate source of power... as it is out-powering gravity itself as it continues to accelerate the universe we are in. I suspect, due to the pull of a multiverse / other (neighboring) universes.

That said, I agree, it would be great if we could tap the earth's magnetic field, which is powered by the planet's crystal core, and tech-connect our planet grid to the universal electromagnetic force. I have some ideas along those lines, and suspect this is what powers the 'tic tac' Unidentified Aerial Phenomena recorded by the U.S. Navy, and others. It appears, based on my own findings, that each tic-tac is a crystal-craft alien robonaut. I recently reg'd AlienRobonaut(com) so may get something up this year.

I've come to the conclusion that 'they' are documenting species and planetary collapse, aka The 6th Extinction. Which I think could be the best hope... for the survival of many species, including some of us.
I also think there could well be a Crimes Against Life in the Universe reckoning.

Ultimately the best source of power will be if we can tap directly into the gravitational and electromagnetic forces of Earth (or any other planet that we might be on in the future). IMO

Save the Earth is only a slogan for many "green" organizations.

Cow farts are not the only source of methane. Zombie Wells Threaten the Whole Planet

Around 100,000 suspended wells, neither active nor capped in Canada

https://www.nytimes.com/2020/10/30/climate/oil-wells-leak-canada.html

200,000 - 750,000 more abandoned wells in USA (that are unrecorded)

https://grist.org/energy/plugging-abandoned-oil-wells-carbon-offsets/

...and possibly up to 2.1 million Zombies!

Inventory of U.S. Greenhouse Gas Emissions and Sinks

https://www.epa.gov/sites/production/files/2020-04/documents/us-ghg-inventory-2020-main-text.pdf

Methane traps up to 100 times more heat in the atmosphere than carbon dioxide within a 5 year period, and 72 times more within a 20 year period.

In the quest to save the Earth, I'm searching for the elusive Perpetual Motion Machine, and I found domaining. Am I on the right track? I think this may be it.

There is enough proven oil resources to last another 50 years at current production levels. The timeline could be extended by supplementing with alternative energy sources which would only be prudent for the world to implement before we run out.

It should also be noted that we will have to leave between 65 to 80% of current known reserves untouched if we are to stand a chance of keeping average global temperature rise below our two-degrees global target, which means there is approximately a 10 year window of opportunity.

Inspiring, and informative thread. Saving the Earth, is most definitely not a lie. Even when the Earth did not need saving, there were those whom respected it.

I was at a stoplight once. Person ahead of me opened their drivers-side door. Proceeded to push a floor load of garbage made up of fast food wrappers and coffee cups and who knows what else right on to the road beside them. And left it there. Made it humanity's problem. This stuff adds up, we think it's only a one time thing.

We only have one Earth. Why do we put her over the barrel?

Give following vid a chance and see it through. Not suitable for kids! (my kid showed it to me!)

...sadly, that's in Canada even. There's a huge disconnect somewhere

Personally I've witnessed similar blatant incidents, taken pictures of the car, license plate and garbage with my cellphone, and reported them to the authorities. >:(

When I was a youth I would often go canoeing into pristine wilderness spots with my dad. We could always tell the country of origin of the previous campers at our favourite fishing holes from the garbage left behind (esp. empty Budweiser and Old Milwaukee cans) :xf.frown:

Massive disconnect. To the point of I am feeling overwhelmed, every day. I travel a lot for my day job, meet lots of folks. In and out their homes and businesses. The pretty picture painted of Canadians is not reality. I wish I could say good people are the majority. I don't know what's going on here, but started to notice it prevalently about 15 years ago or so. People just don't care. And it's tough to keep positive sometimes, saddened by the disregard and contempt for each other and our environment. Seeing garbage strewn about our land saddens me beyond description. Garages and basements full of throw-away items to the point of you can't even walk through.

Tech addiction is a big problem here. I think it's an unspoken contributing factor, if not the biggest. I once wrote into our local paper, arguing against allowing children bringing mobile devices into elementary schools. After they published it, there was no support for the idea from parents in the community- the responses indicated that these people simply did not know how to parent without the almighty tech.

Nature can teach!

That is something Cannuck- with my own kids have attempted to bring them to pristine spots to learn appreciation of the wilderness. Even just 10 years later, when we have returned, it is as if the spots had become personal dumping grounds. Coke bottles, Tim Hortons cups, water bottles all that stuff. People falling over edges trying to take selfies. Thus emergency resources unnecessarily utilized. Areas that were previously opened, blocked and fenced off- prohibited now.

The pandemic should have been an awakening of sorts. The Earth is talking to us, we are not listening.

We've become a disposable, throw-away, convenience culture. Things just aren't made to last anymore. I'm not faulting anyone for wanting newer, bigger and better...it is by choice that I drive a 40 year old car, lol, but it still looks like it rolled off the showroom floor and just as fuel efficient (and EPA friendly) as the newer vehicles. I believe there will come a time in the not-too-distant future when a potential collapse will force people to a new sensibility, regardless if at present they're willing to or not. :wideyed:

When we were kids, the garbage problem was not so bad - food came in big tins.

Todays youth have grown up surrounded by disposable single-serve food packaging and so it is their new normal.

It's unfortunate.

Models have clearly shown that no matter what we do to change our habits, current population growth trends would quickly eat up those gains in a matter of minutes, hours, or days. We really have two big problems to solve, 1) our mass consumerism driven by greedy amoralistic corporations and 2) our current human population (estimated as needing 1.8 Earths to survive) and the insane projected growth rates.

There was a study I read that stated if everyone in NA drove a hybrid vehicle, that entire carbon footprint savings would be negated by population growth (currently + 500K per day and growing) in a few weeks at most. At this rate, scientists estimate we have maybe 25 years before humans exhaust this planet's available resources.

As David Attenborough aptly stated, "Human beings have overrun the world."
