Woke up today to see one of my NNNNN .com domains sold at a BIN price that was about 5x what such names have been recently selling for at auction (and buyer has paid so it's a legit sale).

Surprised by the sale, I looked at ShortNames to see if auction prices had changed recently and I noticed several big sales from this past weekend:

61599.com - $6,888
97789.com - $11,000
21200.com - $4,350
55198.com - $2,800
81558.com - $4,050

This is about triple what the equivalent domains would have sold for a few months ago. Numbered domains dropped in price a lot this year, I'm wondering if this is the start of price movement in the other direction. Wishful thinking perhaps, but it definitely looks promising... we'll have a better idea in a few weeks if these prices are the new normal.

Just sold 59896.com for mid 4 figures at GoDaddy... I see it's already been developed :) Purchased in October for only $610 so I'm extremely happy with the quick flip. Auction prices keep going down and yet end-user retail prices stay the same... my profit margins on 5N.com are almost 3x today what they were a year ago (you can now buy a 5N.com with a 4 at auction for as little as $150).

I also noticed 63388.com sold for $10,240 at NameJet yesterday, and today 70777.com is already at $16,250 at GoDaddy. Back to back days with a 5N.com cracking 5 figures!
Nice job!

Which settings did you select for the auction?

Were you concerned how it would go because it wasn't an expiry auction?

It wasn't an auction, I simply set a BIN price at GoDaddy (it still shows up in GD auctions but it has a Buy It Now price instead of minimum bid).

@clarkemarketing Where to find auctions of specific domains like these? I’m pretty noob for this. :|

It looks like just about every bottom of the barrel 5n.com is up for auction at namejet with a $200 minimum reserve, all look like they were listed by the same group/person, 8500 plus auctions. I dont see the reserve being hit on any of these however if the seller decides to lower the reserve or drop them all together I can only imagine whats its going to due to the price to the average to below average 5n's.
