advice After Sedo, Afternic, DAN, where to list next?

Spaceship Spaceship
Watch
Just getting back into Domaining this past month after about 8-9 years.

I see the industry has changed and consolidated, but with some new players too.

I have my domains listed on:
Sedo (parked for now, too)

Afternic (it is my understanding that now domains listed here will appear on: GoDaddy, Netsol, Dynadot, eNom, Uniregistry (I think), and a couple more.

DAN (formerly Undeveloped, I think)

With all the Afternic related consolidation in this industry, where else should I list my domains, disregarding brandable marketplaces for now?

Once a domain is listed at, Afternic, Sedo, and DAN, is it necessary to list anywhere else? If so, where and WHY?

Still trying to wrap my head around all the consolidation in the industry that occurred while I was away. And get my domains the maximum exposure possible.

Thank you!

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
Not a good idea to add a buy it now before the 60 days is up but some do it. Different platforms handle different ways. If buyer is insistent on transfer you will have to wait the 60 days to complete transaction.

Its not a huge issue because names rarely sell in that timeframe immediately after reg.
Agree.
We at DaaZ do everything possible to support the seller in this scenario.

We go to an extent to convince buyer to either accept immediately via Domain push or we will hold the domain securely in DaaZ's account until the 60 days period is ended.

Out of our experience, around 2 to 3% of buyers are not happy with the options we gave, most of them are ok to either wait or accept the domain push.

The only advise we give it to the domainers who practice the quick sale after registration must avoid unpopular registrars. If the domain name is registered with a popular registrar the chances of buyer agreeing for the domain push is quite high.

What if we list it within the 60 day lock as BIN on Afternic?
Yes, you can do it but you CANNOT include them to the Afternic Premium Domains Network.

How about we talk about how most end user transactions happen?

Someone has a eureka moment, they want to start a new business, the first thing they think of is what they will call it. Next, they go to see if the domain is available.

These eureka moments can last anywhere from a few minutes to a few days, in most cases they go sour within 72 hours.

Within that short period of time you must capture that impulse buyer.

If you send them to a page with no BIN, its risky unless you have a phone number and they could reach you anytime, then it's a bit less risky.

If you only have a make offer, this is not a business to play it cool (unless you have something really unique going and you know who is contacting you). You must reply fast.

Always consider the fact that when people have these eureka moments they are looking to share their idea with friends and family. If they reach those friends and family before you, there is a good chance you lost the sale. Friends and family are really good at talking people out of things and most people would laugh if their friend said they are buying a domain for a few thousand dollars.

Timing is everything.

Why you should be on as many platforms as possible?

Most end users will look up a name by going to the site. In fact, some people think if a site doesn't load that the domain must be available.

Look at hugedomains, they know what they are doing, almost always a bin and a phone number. Plus they offer a payment plan. I'm convinced you could sell air if you offer a payment plan.

I wish dan had a area on the page where if we want it will populate with a phone number. I am very curious if I add a phone number to all my pages if anyone will call (other than spammers).

We really are all waiting for someone to have that eureka billion dollar idea moment. If they have money and you have a name they love and they could reach you at peak eureka, you will report a sale here that nobody will understand why someone paid that much.

If you live in the US and the potencial buyer who is interested in your domain, live somewhere in Europe or Australia, how is he call you on you phone?

In the case of afternic they have local phone numbers in many countries that show up on the lander based on the visitor is from. HugeDomains has only a US number.

If you have a big portfolio you could spend under 50 a month and have a local phone number in the US, Canada, Germany, UK and some other countries. Personally if a person won't call a country because of fees, what are the chances he will pay a good price for a domain?

Another option if you want phone support on your domain names, but can't or don't want to manage responding to phones especially from around the globe yourself, is to set up a SquadHelp 'white label' site on one of your domain names, and put your portfolio there. You can set it that SH will handle the phone, email or chat discussions, and the commission on these standard listings is reasonable. Of course, it only will get viewers either from someone going looking for that specific name (via lander), or if your white label site is able to attract buyers in sufficient numbers. It probably works best for portfolios that have a strong single focus.

Of course the marketplaces with phone/chat support, this is one feature they offer that make their commission worthwhile.

It always pays to reread your very detailed and informative posts, Bob. When you responded to me I didn't even know what Biix and Nameworth we're!

I really like the idea of having the link to Name worth valuations since I seem to actually have several Tier 2 ( I have only ever seen one Tier 1 among available name's, auctions etc)

So I will revisit Biix again!

Thank you again for sharing your knowledge and experience with everyone here...

What success or suggestions have you found on the different platforms? An update would be great on all the platforms you listed on. Thank you!
